Okay so this is the template I'm planning on doing, thing is I don't have much points to master the whole carbineer profession so I can only master 5 boxes excluding the Novice Carbineer, I was thinking of doing Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert Carbine Marksmenship for the accuracy bonuses and Intermediate and Advanced Carbine Counterinsurgency tactics for the defense bonuses and of course mastering the whole line of carbines in the Bounty Hunter tree. Is this enough to hold my own in PvP battles? Or am I going to be gimped because I'm missing a few key things higher up on the tree? If it's seriously that bad I can always drop the CH line. Any suggestions appreciated

if you're going to master CH, just have 3 pet rancors and you should do fine in PvP, even if you're missing half of carbineer. i can't think, off-hand, of anyone able to take 3 rancors by themselves....

I'm not going to master CH, just get Creature Management IV and Creature Taming IV, for the bounty hunter tree I'm going to master Investigation and the Carbine line.

I think everyone is going for this combo, imperial wise. First off, if you have underhand shot, and 3 rancors, which apparantly are very easy to get, you won't have any problem at all with pvp. But, with CH, i'm not sure if you have enough room left for medic skills. You should really go for those. If you can do both, then ok. I have a feeling, and I seriously hope so, that they are going to remove Rancors as pets, or atleast make you be a master CH. As for underhand shot, don't go BH just for it. Over time, and enough PVP complaints, it will be reduced even further in effectiveness. And keep in mind that if they do this, your bounty missions are going to be nearly impossible. Either way, you'll be a killing machine in pvp. Keep in mind that the BH is better with carbines than the carbineer, so you might even want to pass up carbineer completly. Maybe go with pistols.

All I can ask of you is this, Please don't pull out 3 rancors during PVP heh. I'm starting to worry that every imperial will have 3 soon.

Ahhh, this is somewhat similar to my alt characters template(Master CH/Carbineer/Pikeman) However, how much of Carbineer and Pikeman is in question though heh.

Just a point...and I don't know how well this applies to rancors...

Pets are susceptible to Warning Shot, from the combatxp requiring column in marksman's skill tree. A fast carbine (or just enough skill that anything is fast in your hands) might let you warning shot + bleed the pets away (assuming somehow the CH master isn't paying attention or something).

I'm likening CH's with 3 rancors to something significantly worse than pre-nerf bonedancers in DAOC. They used to be a class that required 3+ people to kill them a piece, and its looking like CH'ers are the same.

I'm not powerleveling through CH so I'm only on 2nd tier skills (all first tier filled) and so can't train a rancor yet....and I'm spending inordinate amounts of money on new weapons. Gonna get an EE3 just to try it out.

Cut off the head, and the body dies.

DING ! DING ! DING ! We have a winner... why dance with the rancors? KILL THE CH and the rancors go back to sucking their thumbs.
