Thread: Holding carbine and starting combat makes movement pause...

Please devs, fix the problem when holding a carbine that makes you stop running when you start to attack... As it is now, when I start attacking something my character stops moving for a couple seconds.

You mean it doesn't happen with other weapons?

And all this time I thought the 5 second insta-root was part of the Desert Demon's ambush tactic to close the 20m remaining after they spawn around me =)

Well,



I assume the pause your referring to is what i've assumed is the Bracing of oneself to begin shooting the carbine. It's perfectly normal in real life, shooting while running is pretty hard, and running while rifling is ludicrious.


BUT realizm aside, I thougth the rifle also paused when initiating combat, i know for a fact that pistol does not, but since there's very little kick to a blaster.....(heck if scrawny nerfherders can use them....heh)


can anyone confirm? I'll check with my Rifle tonight.

I'm pretty dang sure you are supposed to be able to run while shooting, mainly because of the "Accuracy while moving" skillmods.

I believe one can run-and-gun with a carbine, but I also get the "stop, look, listen, aim, ready... FIRE" effect as well.The "pause that kills (me)"seems to be first shot on a new mob, or after I've done a on-the-run heal, etc.


I don't usually notice it on my first shot since I'm almost always standing still then anyway.


What really hoses me is when I'm being swarmed and need to switch targets while running. When I target a new mob and fire, it's almost like a do an ActionShot on myself.

I don't know if this is the same thing, but I have had occasions where swooper gangs spawn instantly all around me (though I think this happens with a lot of people!) and not wanting to pick a fight I hit Peace and run away. Unfortunately, every time they hit me as they are chasing me, I do that 'stop-ready-brace-aim' animation without actually attacking. This happens every other second and so I am quickly reduced to jelly. This does not please me.

From my experience, the only weapons that don't make you pause when you hostile a mob are pistols and vibro knucklers.

This doesn't happen with pistols. Just a little while ago I bodyshot2'ed a gorg as I was running to check my harvesters and I didn't miss a step. When I do that with a carbine I stop dead in my tracks every time.

I've been wishing this would go away myself...


My other account is Pistol. She stops to engauge in combat as well. Even Melee if I dont have her weapon on.

from my experience mastering the marksman tree/getting unarmed4 in brawler....


happens EVERY time with carbine/rifle


happens rarely with pistol/vibro knuckler/unarmed, quite possibly tied to small spikes of lag

This is why I travel with peace on. Also A lot other reasons to have peace up all the time as well. Start leaving the peace sign up, you'll save yaself some anguish.
