Thread: Holding carbine and starting combat makes movement pause...
And all this time I thought the 5 second insta-root was part of the Desert Demon's ambush tactic to close the 20m remaining after they spawn around me =)
Well,
I assume the pause your referring to is what i've assumed is the Bracing of oneself to begin shooting the carbine. It's perfectly normal in real life, shooting while running is pretty hard, and running while rifling is ludicrious.
BUT realizm aside, I thougth the rifle also paused when initiating combat, i know for a fact that pistol does not, but since there's very little kick to a blaster.....(heck if scrawny nerfherders can use them....heh)
can anyone confirm? I'll check with my Rifle tonight.

I believe one can run-and-gun with a carbine, but I also get the "stop, look, listen, aim, ready... FIRE" effect as well.The "pause that kills (me)"seems to be first shot on a new mob, or after I've done a on-the-run heal, etc.
I don't usually notice it on my first shot since I'm almost always standing still then anyway.
What really hoses me is when I'm being swarmed and need to switch targets while running. When I target a new mob and fire, it's almost like a do an ActionShot on myself.
From my experience, the only weapons that don't make you pause when you hostile a mob are pistols and vibro knucklers.
I've been wishing this would go away myself...
My other account is Pistol. She stops to engauge in combat as well. Even Melee if I dont have her weapon on.

happens EVERY time with carbine/rifle
happens rarely with pistol/vibro knuckler/unarmed, quite possibly tied to small spikes of lag
