Thread: Carbine speed mods, rollover at some point?
For a while now I've been noticing the carbine speed is definitely capped when you get a high enough speed mod, at about 1.0 seconds per shot. Every single special and normal fire, you can compare a 2.8 speed cdef shooting regular fire without specials to a laser rifle at 4.5 speed doing cripple shots, it's all 1.0 seconds between shots. I haven't really been paying attention to the fire speeds until recently though, I just assumed at maxed out speed bonuses (+115) I'm gonna fire really fast and it's just a simple cap on it
(Plus I never really used anything but a CDEF with 2.8 speed for exping all the way till maxed out so it was harder to notice)
But yesterday I was talking about crippling shot with a friend with maxed speed bonuses from just carbineer without master, so he was at +50 speed mod. Turns out he fires a cripple shot every 7 seconds? That sounded really, really slow to me compared.
So this made me think, is the high speed just a bug? The difference seems way too big, and Tolm also tested this with +95 speed mod with a 3.5 speed EE3, same 1 sec fire rate with cripple shot (which I'd imagine is one of the slowest firing shots so good to test with).
Sort of trying to figure here if there's just some certain roll over point where all weapon delays get bumped to 1.0 or if its actually something that happens bit by bit. Easy to test this with just turning timestamps on, there'll be slight anomalies like sometimes shots having 2 seconds between them or firing once within the same second, but I think that's all just caused by lag of some sort.. Overall it seems to even out to 1 per second if you keep it up for a while.
So.. Anyone out there with a speed mod between +50 and +95, any chance you could see how your fire rate is with normal fire and specials? Slow speed weapons with high delay specials are the best for it, but I guess anything helps.
