Thread: Crippling shot not worth it?

I have been working my way up the marksmanship line, in hopes of getting crippling shot and it being good, but from what Im reading it seems either scattershot1, or burstshot1 do almost the same damage and are only tier 1 skills?

Is this true?

Why does a tier 1 skill do more damage than tier 3 skill? Thats absurd, but I'd like to know beforehand if Im just wasting 350,000 XP when I should be doing either burst shot or scatter shot.

If anyone can provide some accurate info it would be appreciated.

I actually really like cripple shot. I have been getting 1100+ dmg from it; making it very usefull in pvp and destroy missions. Most things you encounter have less action than health so why not do 1100+ dmg to theaction pool and take it out with 1-2 shots? I say go for the cripple shot, and work on you other shots later.

Thanks. I just wanted to hear from someone that it actually does some decent damage.

So cripple shot targets the action pool? The skill doesnt really specificy what the heck the skill does.

Basically it "cripples" the action ability of the target therefore incapping it with one or two shots depending on HP count of that target's pool.

Its not that SWG is not fun, its more like they adopted a new mentality. Lets do whatever we can to make the game as boring as possible, kinda like sex with a nun.

Here are some numbers for the relative stats on some specials

--going off of the numbers appearing over my head for special cost and the number appearing over the enemy for damage--

Full auto 2: max damage seen 1400s special cost 140

Legshot 3: max damage seen 800 special cost 99

Scattershot 1: max damage seen 1400 (less reliable damage) special cost99

Burst shot 1: max damage seen 1800, special cost 99

Scattershot 2: max damage seen 2400 special cost 110

I have no idea on crippling shot, but scattershot 2 is very nice.

Crippling shot seems to be about a 7.5 damage mod, it's very high damage. I've not really touched burst shots in a few weeks at least, since crippling shot seemed to outdamage them clearly. Can run more accurate tests though when I get home, I've only compared it with the BH carbine line skills for the most part. It also hits random pools, not action.

Crippling Shot attacks a random pool, it'scompletely random in which pool it attacks much like Burst Shot.

The damage on Crippling Shot can be very powerful. I have a 70 - 190 EE3 and I can hit from 500 - 1400 with crippling shot. With a laser carbine it's around 200 - 2000+.

The EE3(high health HAM)and the Laser Carbine(high actionHAM)have the same amount oftotal HAM costs, however, the EE3 takes less total HAM away when crippling shot is used. With the laser carbine, it can seem like it's not worth it. You seem to do a lot of damage to your own HAM bars and can do 200 - 500 damage with it commonly. I know I've been very unlucky while using Crippling Shot with the laser carbine but it's much more reliable when used with the EE3.

Here are someactual numbers from me.Weapon used is a 26-266 damage laser carbine. Numbers are the actual numbers in the combat tab, its too hard to keep track of the numbers on top of the head. Ham costs are the ones on top of my head though.

Burst shot 1: Max damage at a bit over 1500, ham cost 105.

Burst shot 2: Max damage a bit over 1550, ham cost 110.

Cripple shot: Max damage a bit over 1950, ham cost 129.

Average damage also hard to keep track of, but they all hit for very low numbers occasionally, I didnt notice any huge difference in one of them hitting for lower more frequently, but cant really tell reliably without parsing logs. Anyways - I don't really see why you'd want to use burst2 over cripple shot, cripple is slightly higher ham but the damage should more than make up for it. I do however have my doubts about burst 2 being worth it over burst 1
