Thread: damage in the 1000's?

Ok, as I read the threads on different damage numbers I see that lots of people saying they hit in the 1000'sto as high as 2000+. I'm not sure if it's just Starsider (missing resources for high end weapons), but I'd be lucky to hit in the 600's. I don't complain as a carbineer because w/ as2 I damage a bunch of targets over a period of time, but how is everyone getting these amounts of damage?

Laser Carbine, sliced for damage, with BurstShot2, on a non-resistance, no-armor enemy, the negative number that floats off the opponents head easily goes 2000+.

But the Laser Carbines can be slow, and use a ton of HAM, and you can shoot for 200 as easily as 2000 due to the wide range of damage the Lasers have, and not every opponent has zero resistance and zero armor.

Yeah, those high numbers are pretty much from laser carbines. I'm carbine specialist, not yet even a novice carbineer, but using a nice laser carbine (272 max damage with a powerup, unsliced) I've landed hits up to 1200ish damage with FullAuto1. Gettings hits of 700ish on ActionShot1 is also quite fun.

Keep in mind that when using a weapon like the Laser Carbine you can very easily be dealing more damage than the combat text is displaying in the chat bar. I've had hits for 600 in the chat bar that displayed as 900 over the mob's head. Watch the mob for your real damage, since the chat text apparently doesn't take armor into account, just the raw number your weapon generates. Since Laser Carbines get a damage bonus against targets with 0 or 1 armor, you can frequently get very big hits.

I'm not too fond of the big range on laser carbines either, mine is 17-220 base, but I seem to average a lot more high end hits than low end. Yes, I've gotten a low hit of about 48 damage, but its happened twice. I've hit for over 1000 way more than that, and over 800 more times than I can count. I can typically 2 shot white mobs unless I get a bad damage roll on one of the hits, and then it becomes a 3 shot. I haven't tried PvP yet, but it seems to me that with a little luck I could one-shot many enemy players, or give them a bleed they couldn't possibly survive.

My previous weapon was an E-11. On paper it looked great, nice speed, low HAM, tight damage range, decent max damage. But my Laser Carbine blows it away.

Thanks for all the info guys, but I'm so screwed on Starsider. Apparently one of the resources to make laser carbines is not available (that's what I've been told by numerous weaponcrafter from novice to master) I hope they're wrong. I use an e11 and an ee3, and i've tried wildshot1 and burtshot1 and still can't seem to get the damages u guys are getting. I hope we get the resources soon.

Yeah Starstrider is lacking any resources to make -any- high end weapons. That means rifles and pistols get screwed out too. Best carbine on the server is an EE3.

Aram can you supply stats on the best ee3 you know of? Cause I'm gonna buy one (or many more depending on cost)

I'd suggest useing Deveron. His gunshop is NE on Entha a ways, out near the PvP battlefield. He's a master weaponsmith and keeps his prices down. Kane is another Master Weaponsmith, also near Entha

My EE3 stats are

54 - 133 Damage.

8.39 wound chance.

3.1 attack speed(was sliced for 15% speed improvment)

HAM costs 40/33/19.

I've seen better, but not better enough for me to really justify dishing out another 5-10k for a10 damage increase or something.

Just pray the devs do something about the resources so we can finally see a laser carbine or something.

With expert counter insurgency i can hit for 1100's using burst shot/ burst shot 2 (no difference in the 2 skills that ive noticed so far) with a dh 17 73-176dmg 2.5spd wep. Using a laser carb and a lucky hit im sure it would be way higher but because of the lower minimum youd have plenty of low hits too. (not of fan of laser carbs) I think all our higher end guns really need some fine tuning... adding possibly some damage stats that don't suck =P So far dh17 seems to be the only one that isnt so broken. (well, hams on it still arent great, but damage is ok)

With my 22-271 laser carbine using burst shot, my highest hit ever was 3232. I never broke 3k again though. 1000 and 2000 hits are pretty common.

Can anyone tell how the damage is figured? I was under the false impression that if my laser carbine has a damage of 12-198 that it could do as little as 12 hit points and as much as 198 hit points. But yet I seem to hit the enemy more consistently around 250 and even 600+ if I use specials. What does the damage number on the weapon correspond to exactly?
