Thread: Newb here, questions. Rifle or Carbine?
I can take one skill tree in either Rifle or Carbine. I was thinking rifle, but I've been hearing the Carbines do more damage per shot.
If you can take one skill tree (or a combination of slower ones), which would you take?
First off, these 2 guns are used differently. The carbine is better suited for mid-range combat, and better for hitting multiple mobs. To me, the carbine is better when you are fighting in groups.
Rifle = slower, hits harder
Carbine = faster, hits less
Pistol = fastest, hits least
From what I can assertain from guildmates and other info, the damage done by these 2 groups are roughly the same over time. I think the rifle, though, takes bigger hits in the HAM areas.

Let me fix that up a little bit...
Rifle = same speed, hits hard
Carbine = same speed, hits medium
Pistol = same speed, hits soft
rifles are for sniping (except for the spray sticks)
carbines are lke sub-machineguns, they hit relatively fast at a moderate rate of damage
pistols are like compact mini-guns they can shoot hard, fast, and can really screw you over. Especially true for commando pistols like scatter pistol, i got lit on fire once by one of those and it left me with 400 hp wounds and it was like a fast bleed for 800 hp a tick. (this was long after the duel)
