I posted this on SWG Discussion before I realized we had a Carbineer board. =] Anyways, hereare my opinions on Carbineer.
Hi, I've just recently advanced to Master Carbineer. Unfortunately, I've noticed that a Master Carbineer is very futile in comparison to a Master Rifleman and Pistoleer.The Master Carbineer is supposed to be the staple of any major firefight. Unfortunately, the Carbineer gets hardly any defense mods and inadequate bonuses in other areas in comparison to the Pistoleer and Rifleman.
First of all, a Master Carbineer gets a measly +5 ranged defense and +15 vs knockdown/intimidate. The Carbineer also gets +20 counterattack at Master but this does nothing but counter an attacker, which is worthless if the carbineer can't survive that initial attack.
Now the Master Rifleman gets +23 ranged defense/+20 melee defense and +30 block. The Rifleman is supposed to be more vunerable at melee ranges yet he can withstand much more than a carbineer. Furthermore, the Rifleman gets Defense +30 vs posture/+10 to stun/blind/dizzy.
The Pistoleer also gets +13 melee defense, +5 ranged, +30 dodge and +20 defense vs Stun/Blind/Dizzy/Posture and +30 vs knockdown.
In terms of attack modifiers, the Carbineer is also lacking. The Master Carbineer gets +30 speed to where a Master Rifleman gets +60 and the already quick Pistoleer gets +49. With those mods to speed, a rifleman can dish out some crazy damage with good speeds and a pistoleer can shoot a blaze with an already fast gun, leaving the Carbineer with an average speedand average damages.
I've seen pistols with damages close to those of the Carbineer weapons. Even worse is the rifleman with insane damages. I can't imagine when the T21 comes out and a Rifleman is shooting it with their +60 speed modifers. The one benefit to a Carbineer is the accuracy bonuses while moving, which are +30, but then I saw that a Pistoleer also gets +30 and +15 while standing, to top it off. If you look at the differences between these profession trees, you'll see how much the Carbineer is really lacking. We just can't compete with no dodge or block and VERY little defense modifiers.
