Thread: Elite Carbine or Carbine Laser or is there something better?
I'm currently using a sliced Laser Carbine , but I'm looking to the future. Should I get an elite carbine or just reslice another Laser Carbine? Can Someone post a side by side statline of each?
What are my other options?
It's sliced, and I just saw some better ones that I'll be buying this week, but here's the breakdown.
Damage: 12-161
Wound chance: 13.39
Ideal Range : 50
Maximum Range: 64
Range Mods: -45/6/-40
Attack Speed: 4.2
HAM: 20/46/23

btw: I've heardof laser carbines having armor piercing: how does one get that?
Armor Piercing is just an alternate way of talking about the Armor Rating equivalence of weapons. I use it, for instance, because I think talking about AR on a gun makes it sound like gun is armored, which is silly.
That said, the Armor Piercing (or Rating) value of a gun is inherant to the model of gun. It lets you know what value of armor that type of gun will do the "listed" damage against. For a Laser Carbine, for instance, the AR value it does unmodified damage against is AR2. For E11s, Elites, and DXR6s, the AR is 1.
So to answer your question, it's not something you "get" or "add on." It's built into the gun, depending on what model it is.

lasers are armor piercering in general, its just that elite can pierce all armor (I think).. You can definately get a better laser though, I have a 22-249 sliced 2.5 speed.
Elites actually have a lower armor rating (or piercing) than laser carbines. And there are armor ratings on some creatures that even a laser carbine (AR2) cannot "pierce," and thus does less than listed damage against. Creature AR goes up to 3.
