Thread: Request: Clarifications and Statistics
In my opinion, max range of each weapon should be readjusted. To be able to sit at 64 meters away with a pistol and spam Body Shot is ridiculous. I know that's what I do.
Pistol - 32 m
Carbine -48 m
Rifle - 64 m
That seems about right to me.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and compare us to another MMORPG game and class.
Take the Shadow Knight of EQ for instance, another mmorpg created by SOE. Not many people started playing them at first, and they were crappy tanks, had crappy spells, crappy damage output. But as time passed they were finally fixed.
And when I say "time passed" I mean 2 1/2 years.
People, us carbiniers are shadow knights. I'm afraid we are gunna be screwed for quite a long time. My suggestion: get yourself novice CH and buy a rancor. At least it looks cool, right?
Well, whether our specials are supposed to be "uber" or not is irrelevant really. The base fact of the matter is that a pistoleer can spam bodyshot till days end doing same damage as a carbineer can do with fullauto or burstfire and to top it all off they can do it faster. The one and only advantage carbines have right now is the ranged knockdown which i think most of us support nerfing a bit anyways(along with most other knockdowns in general). If they think our special move costs are fair then they need to up our damage a massive amount for those considering 4-5 of them and we are dead, while a pistoleer can do them all day long. Im novice carbineer with int carbine counterinsurgency and i find myself using a scout blaster from pistol 4 in the marksman tree when i have to fight tough stuff just cause i can do more DPS with it and not kill myself.
If all holo does is fix stocks then this profession is in serious trouble, theres more to it than stocks holo, tell us what your really gonna do to fix the problem.
The problem is, you'restill talking in general terms. The truth is in the numbers and that is what developers listen to. Break out the numbers, do the comparisons, then let the developers decide if the fix should come with bumping up some professions or nerfing others. Calling tonerfanother profession is like handing the devs a pair of earplugs."Fix us!" isn't much better. If we are objective then the truth will speak for itself. But, it seems like most would ratherjust gripe randomly and wait 2 1/2 years.
Maybe I should visit the marksman board and see if they would be willing to assist. The defeated mentality has already taken hold here.
So you want numbers eh?
T21 Rifle: around 130-500/8s
Elite Carbine: around 100-130/4s
Any questions?
It is difficult to know what is broken without knowing what was intended with the Carbineer profession. One problem *may* be that we are all trying to play Carbineers like Pistoleers and Riflemen. For example, HAM costs on our weapons are quite high. Perhaps it was intended that Carbineers have one to three "uber" specials they use during a single battle, unlike other professions who chain their specials throughout an entire fight.
If the above case was the developer's intention, then the appropriate fix would be to have higher base damage on our carbines, and specials which provide more bang for our buck.
Why do I bring this up? To me, Holo's proposed fixes seem extremely conservative. They only address DH17's and increase the potential benefits of using scopes. However, the perspective here seems to be that an across-the-board HAM reduction is in order for all advanced weapons. Perhaps the reason for these differing perspectives is that we have different ideas about what the Carbineer should be. Some Dev clarification would be helpful.
My second notion is that we (the Carbineer community)gather hard date inone consolidated post. We need the weapon and damage stats so we can objectively compare the Carbineertoriflemen and pistoleers. If we're supposed to do XX% of the damage that a pistoleer would do, and have specials give us that extra utility boost to round off the fun factor, then we need to present the stats on why this is/isn't currently the case. Anecdotes and protests only go so far with the devs but stats speak for themselves.
Now, my disclaimer. I won't be a "real" Carbineer until this weekend at the earliest. So if I'm coming from left field I'm sure you'll all let me know. ![]()
i agree we need numbers as numbers always paint a intersting picture. but you would do well to keep in mind that this isnt some problem we just decided was a problem and have to go and convince everyone about it. every already has noticed it as well as the devs. the question isnt whether they think it needs to be fixed, the question is whether their fix is going to do enough, soon enough.
i would love to have some numbers, but in the meantime, i think its warranted to expect some form of action from the devs on the issue as everyone in game has noticed it. spreadsheets are nice, but our profession needs critical action to keep it alive. a 2 month number crunching debate wont do any good when the problem has already been identified and verified by every single carbineer and allt he rifleman and pistoleers i know personally. we arent making these issues up out of think air.
