Is anything going to be done to beef up carbineers, from what ive seen the penalties are too high. they get owned by riflemen, pistoleers and BH... what is the point of being them .. its all negative.

dont know how to edit heh sorry. but i forgot to mention (carbineers still week even after fix?) this fix just fixes the action bar which makes them take the proper amount of ham penalties for doing weaker attacks on few weaker weapons ? This can't be right :/

Well, I don't think the fix will fix carbine as a whole. Some carbines may still have questionable action costs. Perhaps their intent is that only the DH17 shouldn't costing that high, but that wouldn't make sense for all the 16/20/24 or so Laser Rifles I see.

As for the skills, It appears that the BH has the top carbine skills. The bonuses, damage and skills that the BH carbine can pull off makes it look a lot more tempting than the pure Carbineer class. However, I don't think the Carbineer itself as bad. The Burst Shots are nice. The carbineer also gets some Knockdown skills (Charge Shot) in which one of them knocksdown targets within an area. And Crippling Shot can dish out some mean damage.. and some mean suicidal action damage.

Right now, I'm personally a BH Carbine / Carbineer. I've been working hard on the BH skills and I am currently on my way to mastering the BH Carbine tier (just need the last skill). Soon, I'll be able to give in-depth reviews on the skills and try to figure out what their cost/dmg modifyers are.

Quick question for you SOJ, what weapon are you using atm that you are allready on the last tier of the BH carbine skills? Moreover, how do you get exp that quickly using a carbine?

The downtime is too long to use styles, so I've only been using default attacks with my rancor pet tanking, but each mob I kill w/ around 10k hps takes about 5 min per kill using default attacks, and yields about 2k exp.

Any suggestions on how to plow through carbine exp would be great.

Thanks

Just a clarification on what I mean...

When you start running around and shooting...you will likely have 4-6 squalls chasing you until you've killed a bunch of them and the nest quits spawning.

When you kill one...you will pause for a second...then the "pack" of squalls will catch you...and they will land 2 or 3 hits each until you move away from them.

Depending on the level & #'s of squalls you are fighting...this could mean getting insta-killed from full health.

holo used dh17 as an example, ALL carbines except e-11 require the stocks and barrels so the HAM costs will go down for all. also, he said they were increasing *something* on the carbines, i cant remember the exact quote. to be honest with you, i hold my own quite well with carbine. i do 1000+ damage with full auto.

Its not that SWG is not fun, its more like they adopted a new mentality. Lets do whatever we can to make the game as boring as possible, kinda like sex with a nun.

I'm a Bounty Hunter. With the BH carbine skills I can knock creatures down. The best way I've been getting xp, though, is from Torturs on Talus. They don't BAF and they give good xp but take a while.

Also, thanks a lot PinkTaco, it's good to hear that.

As for the BH moves, it seems that underhand shot and fire knockdown both have around the same damage modifyer. I'm not quite too sure on it right now. It seems to be around x5. Roughly 230 average damage with the CDEF.

Also the weapon I have been using the most is the CDEF Carbine. I've actually just worked up some more cash today that I'm planning on getting another weapon (such as an EE3) and pulling off more damage.

well thanks for the replies guy i think ill continue my work in carbineer in hope that the jounreywill not be fruitless. I think that another possible solution they could think about would be to make two different type of carbines, some devoted to longer range use (with a stock, which fire slower but do more damage and take away more HAM) maybe even rivalling the rifle's range. The way they could keep riflers from complaining ismaking those long range carbines heavy on HAM, so essentially it does the same as rifle...just hurts a bit more.. and then they could either speed up the current stockless carbines to keep pace with pistols or buff em up. Something to show us that han solo wasn't a tool for choosing his carbine after all he was faster than that other dude in the cantina..

Circle-kite deranged squalls on Rori...I think you can outrun ANY squall.... timid ones...male/female squalls....I've even killed half a dozen leviasquall nests...

They won't catch you unless you are real close to them when you land a kill-shot and or start a new attack...due to that combat pause....

You should never get hit if done right...

This also works for attacking the nest.

Get 30-35m away from the nest...and run in a circle around it. Keep shooting and it will blow up...eventually they will quit healing it.

Just run in a big looping circle...

Personally, I love using a carbine. In my opinion, for the marksman tree, the carbine branch has the best special moves. Full auto has a chance to stun, dizzy or blind while doing very respectable damage.

And Action shot is really good. One action shot will stop a charging mob in its tracks and allow you to get another couple shots off.

Sure, the DH17 HAM costs are really high and I used a CDEF carbine all the way to carbineer, but then I bought a laser carbine when they were available and I don't think the HAM costs are too high on it, especially considering the power of the special moves. Using full auto I can hit for as much as 969 damage, which takes down many mobs in one shot.

I play a support role in my regular group and in my opinion, the carbine is by far the best for support amongst pistol, rifle and carbine. It's really all in what you want to do.
