i was trying not to post this but sorry, i just got to. I can take a CDEF carbine(Dam 29-59HAM 9,20,9)and solo a 9 paralope camp ( 4 before i shoot at nest, 2 that charge me, and 3 that i kill before i blast the nest. i use all specials attacks (leg shot 2 on para's with a shot or 2 to make the 2 that charge me run, and auto1 on the nest. by the time i loot the 9 para's im full health and ready to go. life is good. now go to a E11 (dam 32-75 HAM 32,40,19), the same 9 para camp using the same specials attack and i need to stop and heal up before i blast the nest, and heal or sit after i blast the nest, life is not good. hmm get a higher skill lev and a better carbine = less special attacks =less damage =more down time ? what were they thinking ? the starter carbines should have had 30,30, 30 HAM cost and got lower as the carbines got beter, a high lev should be 10,10,10 not a newby weapon. HAM cost should not got us 2 to 3 times as damage increases by 3 on low end and 16 on hight end. what the best carbine in the game going to do? you fire 2 special attacks for 2000 dam each and are 1/2 dead afterwards ? Sigh what were they thinking !

You may not be aware of this and judging by your post I don't think you are. But at this time the experamentation on stat drain for carbines (not totally sure about the other weapons as I could care less about them) is bugged. Basically once the DEVs fix it you'll be seeing you 10 10 10 HAM usage type weapons. It is being looked into and hopefully by the next major patch it will be implimented.

If this was how HAM drain was intended then yes, I also would be wondering... "What were they thinking". I already have my order placed with one of my servers fine weaponsmiths so when the bug is fixed I have an incredible weapon with lower stat drain.

I hope the experimentation fixes all the high end carbines (not just the DH's from Holo's post), but I think Storm's point is the newbie weapons should be higher cost than a high end weapon. I think it makes sense that you should become more efficient with your weapon (ie less ham costs etc) as you progress. I find it difficult to spend large amounts of money on a weapon that is a multiple of costs higher than the first day I started. The whole scheme seems backwards to me, why would I be less efficient with my weapon at Carbine Specialist than I was at just plain Novice Scout.

From Holo's post it sounded to me like they were fixing the experimentation on stocks and scopes, not the weapons themselves.

Holo said: We also changed the HAM cost modifiers on stocks and scopes so that they can potentially be experimented all the way down to zero.We also gave them a little large boost on their benefits.

Well, if the HAM costs stayed similar throughout, then you *would* be getting more efficient -- you'd do more damage with the better weapons, for the same cost.

but the thing is that this patch will fix the huge HAM costs that the stocks gave weapons

that was one of the reasons weapons had such high costs

yes, stocks were ONE of the problems with carbines costs, but not the core i think. Ive seen some of the best ee3's on ahazi with costs of 45/35/20 and after using burstshot 3-4 times, your half dead. this is far from the case with high end scout blasters whos highest cost is 22 for action that ive seen, while those same scout blasters can esily match the damage being done with the carbines. its simply not balanced and whats worse is even with this forum full of questions about what the "fix" is actually going to fix, not a single dev has had the nerve or the courtesy to spend 2 minutes to give us a simple answer.

Yeah but you aren't ever going to get the 1800 damage from a scout blaster that you'll get with that burst shot.

yeah, but look at the damage over time. with pistols as low as 1.6 speed, the DOT on pistol is better and your able to spam your specials all day long. i know cause i got a nice scout blaster that i use for really tough fights.
