Thread: A great prey!
After a couple weeks or so of just doing rebel destroy missions in Anchorhead, I found myself getting tired of the same old kill. So, I left tatooine looking for something new. Ooops, i'm broke. So, instead I went to Naboo. I could've done some missions to make the money for a new scene, but I was really wanting out of Tatooine for a while. So, I arrived in Keren, the city I started my character in. Went and checked the bazzar to see what was new (nothing) and headed out into the wilds. First thing I came across that seemed good was a Peco Peco. It nearly killed me, but I got it. Still not much fun though. So I headed into a forest I came across, and was amazed. Ok, I had been in one before, but after being on Tatooine for so long, I couldn't help but be amazed at the sounds and scenery, especially at night. I fought a few things here and there, saw a few rebels killing some things, said hi. Then, I saw a Ikopi stag. Wow. I had never seen one before. I had seen Ikopi's all over, and true, this is just a bigger one, but for some reason it was very impressive to me.
It conned red to me, which told me woooo XP!! So, I got about 55m away, kneeled, and began the fight. After killing about 5 of em, I had more or less perfected my strategy. The reason i'm posting this is, if any of you want to get xp in a fun way, you should definetly hunt these. I also want some feedback on maybe a better strategy if anyone has any ideas.
First, I get about 55m away, and shoot him with actionshot2. It doesn't seem to stop him like with other creatures, so he walks around a little confused, and starts walking towards me. I fire again, and he stops. Whew! Yeah, it does this everytime, takes 2 shots for me. At first I started using burst shot, but this does such random damage and drains my ap so much, I decided to stick with legshot 2. True, it doesn't deal as much damage, but I wanted to stick to one pool so as to take him down faster. I switched from my laser carbine to my E11 because it has a speed of 3.6, 1 second faster than my laser. Speed is important with this guy. Actionshot2 doesn't seem to keep him still for long, so you want to fire at a pretty constant rate. Also, sometimes he just shrugs off the hit and keeps coming, so be prepared to fire a warning shot. Assuming you have some scouting skills.
After that 2nd shot, I start in with a leg shot, then another. Then back to actionshot2. I repeat this unless he actually runs at me, then I do a warning shot. My HAM drops pretty fast at this rate, so when my HAM is getting low, I warning shot, peace, and start healing. Ok, yeah, you'll need some medic skills for this fight too. I can't heal very much at a time because every time he takes damage from the bleeding, he charges back in, so Ivolley another actionshot2 to stick him in his tracks while I continue to heal. Then, back to the combo. Sometimes you have to improvise because he might just rush you, and it only takes him about 2 hits to kill me. I only have 800 health. Having invested most of my points into quickness, stamina, and action. If your using a slower gun, you might want to do an actionshot2, followed by just one legshot2. I'll have legshot 3 soon, hopefully that will increase the damage enough to make this a quicker fight. When he finally goes down, you get a nifty 3095 carbine xp, 350 combat xp, and 305 scouting xp from the harvest, along with 67 bones, or hides. Ok, I know, you can kill easier things faster and make out with more xp, but this is just too much fun as opposed to just shooting and running.
If anyone can offer a better way, or some tips, i'd appreciate it. I'll be hunting these things for a while. If you want to find em, I found a location where they keep spawning south east of Keren. after a small forest, a river, and in the next forest. I'd post the coords but I don't have em written down. Send a /tell to brisko if you're on the eclipse server and i'll send em' to you. Oh, and please post your prey of choice and strategies too, i'll be wanting to move on soon and hunt something new, and i'd like to hear about more good prey out there.
Oh, and Ikopi Stags travel alone, are non aggressive, and don't always do a deathblow, although I did have a couple do one on me.
