The combat versatility doesnt exist, because most weapons at higher skill levels will have the same effective ranges and essentially do the same thing. As for being unique, they really arent that unique. They just get the same skills some other combat professions already get, just slightly modified.. which is one big reason there's such a huge problem with it.

And Ialready said before that even if you count out the totally useless scout skills they spend points on, they'll still have spent more points on combat than an elite gun class.. Maybe if they got something useful out of those traps or hunting that actually helped them in profession, but they dont. But that's besides the point, the BH is still a combat class other than the added tracking droid thing, which is not a huge part of their points.

I think our skill bonuses are right where they should be and some of the other professions need to have their bonuses adjusted down a bit.

The most important one would be weapon speed, currently master rifleman gain +90 rifle speed which works out to a 90% speed increase. A master rifleman could fire a slow T21 every 2 seconds, this skews the damage balance for weapons. Pistols were meant to be fast low damage weapons, carbines in the middle and rifles high damage slow speed.

Bounty hunters receive about +80 to carbine speed as opposed to our +65? at master. This makes a 4.0 speed laser carbine effectively as fast as a pistol. The DPS on weapons is pretty balanced until you begin factoring in the user's skills.

Accuracy is another area that needs to get looked at. A pistoleer or carbineer can be just as accurate at max range as a rifleman. The only individual distinction the elite combat classes have now is which pool they target, their special moves, and the HAM drain on their weapons.
