When i mastered marksman i would bleed the creature with healthshot2, then i would shoot it with a rifle. and get full rifle exp. Bleeding just doesnt count as a hit for some reason, most likely a good one.

I don't think I've ever tried and kill something solely by the bleed effect. It's much faster to keep shooting them with legshot while they bleed

"Here's the problem..." (to me, anyway).

Imagine I'm soloing a peko-peko. He's both bleeding and I'm shooting him with LegShot or something else. He gets near the end of his life, and runs away. He moves faster than I do, and bleeds to death by the time I get back within range. Even though I used LegShot to impart a TON of Action damage, I get ZERO XP for the kill.

I'm sorry, but this is just a bug, and should be fixed.

HeDrums,

What you are talking about then is the "no xp outside of 64m rule". A friend of mine that was in beta tells me that there used to be no range for getting xp, so things that you ran from would get killed at some random time and you would get partial xp even if you were on a different planet.

I've had that happen, especially when having an agressive pet chasing something away. Storm troopers like to maintain ranged combat so run around alot when getting hit with a pet, and losing the xp from those bastards really sucks.

It just comes down to keeping them kneeling/prone when at low health or doing your best to keep up. Peko peko's are a special case because they are fast as hell, probably faster than the plains cats.

Totally with you tho, i think the ranges for xp and weapons need to be tweaked.

Frankly, I liked it better in Beta: if I contribute to the demise of something, I should get some credit for it. I don't even bother with peko-pekos any more, because if they *once* get up and start moving, I can't catch up. Also, there's the warping that happens after you kite a long way in one direction: all of a sudden, the mob that was 30m away is now 180m or more! If they're bleeding, good luck catching up before they croak.

Well, I'm pretty sure all this talk about getting no exp for bleeding a creature to death is just not true... as of last night (when I tried it) I was able to kill a whole flock of nightspiders using only actionshot2 and bleeding them all to death. I got exp for every single one of them.

i've learned as well, like a couple posters to this thread, that if the target bleeds to death from the action shot, u get no exp. I reported this bug already.

So if you've done maybe 3000 damage through leg shots, but shoot an action shot at the enemy when the enemy has 1 action pt left and it thus dies from bleeding, you get no exp. Therefore, make sure your target is not killed by the bleeding (i.e. shoot the enemy like mad to make sure you make the kill, not the bleeding).

Well you must be 1 of the very lucky few, i also tested out actionshot on womp rats last nite with another carbineerand only using ActionShot1 and 2 got no exp for kills we made. Unless intended this is most definatly a bug which needs to be fixed.

I agree: the fact that if the very last thing that happens to a mob that kills it is bleeding and you get no XP despite all the other damage done is, in fact, a bug. I've filed this in the Holocron a couple of times, but from reading in other forums, it will take ALL of us filing this bug/calling Customer Service to get any attention paid to it.

After they "stabilize" the servers, that is.

Or, as they say on TV, the patient is critical but stable. Our patient is neither. And I'm not patient, either, now that I'm paying

I have found the situation stated above to be true, with just an action shot, you will get no exp. All you need to do is give it an action shot and one regular shot and it will register all the damage with what you used for the normal shot in this case, carbine. I have never experienced your second situation, soI dont know what to say about that. I figure it this way, the action shot is not so much an attack as it is a drain, the mob will not even realize it has been hit until it first "bleeds." So when something "bleeds" to death the game has no idea what caused it, and therefor cannot allocate exp, because it doesn't know what catagory to choose. Just so you know, pikeman have a similar action drain so that could be the reason it doesnt know how to allocate the exp, because it hasn't figured out that it is a carbine doing the draining as opposed to a polearm. In short, just give it one shot with the carbine after an action shot and it should give you the exp. That has been my experience with the action shot.

maybe actionshot1 is busted but actionshot2 is okay? Maybe that's why my experiment turned out the way it did. I'll try it later tonight and see if I can make the bug happen...

Uhm...today I got my actionshot1. I tried to kill a humbada(red con to me). To my suprise I just used actionshot1 and the thing was stuck in place. I kept on doing it and was able to kill it without it hitting me once. It just stayed there. I then got 1000 carbine xp and 100 combat xp. Is this suppose to do this? Seems awefully easy to solo things much harder than me.
