I have to say that i'm impressed with your analysis SOJ and agree with your points. One small thing from your post though:
'The only Defense bonuses that the carbineer has that the pistoleer does not, besides Counterattack (and dodge), is it's defenses vs. Intimadate and Knockdown.'
You're right about the Def vs. Intimidate bonus being carbine only, but the more useful Def vs. Knockdown
bonus, as you yourself showed in your post, Pistoleers have a +30 bonus, which beats carbine's +15. Keep up the good work though SOJ, lets not let the devs forget about us
