Thread: Debunking the but bounty hunter is so much harder to get arguement
The biggest problem with bounty hunters right now is not tht they are better than carbineers with carbines, but that they are better than rifleman with rifles.
Eyeshot does mind specific damage at pistol speeds and with headshot 3 damage multipliers. The best rifleman skills can't compare to that mind pool damage. With the reduction of PvP damage, expect mind damage to become infinitely more imporant.
Bounty hunters can keep their carbine skills and I'm okay with it. They are competitive with master carbineers, but they are an elite profession that requires mastery of 2 starting professions, so they aren't going to be able to build hybrids like Combat Medic/Carbineer that are incredibly useful with reduced damage PvP.
However, they will be the PvP gods by spamming this ability with the incredibly fast attack speeds of pistols. If you want a class balance nerf, get eyeshot brought down to the damage done by headshot 1 or headshot 2. The BH currently gets an uber fast and powerful mind pool attack that has a status effect (blind) attached to it. That's incredible.
BH is nothing
Try being a ranger/carbineer
I could have gotten BH 6 times already....try siting in camp to get 140k camping xp for master ranger (a proession that is broke to the point its dead but the camps are cool)
Also in Carbineer it takes like 3 times the combat xp to get knockdown shots....they get it way to fast...and just spam it on top of it all.
There is no "debunking" the difficulty of obtaining Novice BH (since it is Novice that is the difficult one to get to, not whatever boxes you want in the BH branches)
The difficulty is that you are a Novice,
have Novice skills -- in all the truest sense of the word.
A point by point, xp by xp comparison misses the mark entirely.
First,
Master Marksman is no easy feat.
Though it is peanuts to those of us Needing 450K for our next box,
it is not so for the Youngling reaching for 70K Rifle, or Pistol, or, gasp, Carb.
Generaly poor skills,
mated with a lack of familiarity with the Realm.
For those with a great deal of prior knowledge and experience,
it's just the grind,
all over again.
and that is what it is. I remember leveling up on Gorgs,
finding out about savorts,
then Diseased Bocatts,
boy,
I thought I was in heaven.
Syks, whomp rats, those killed me.
Cu pa's? Forget it. I lived in fear of them critters.
You all forget that when you make your point v point comparisons,
These people going for this are genearly new.
It IS a tough grind
Hellava lot tougher than any of what YOU go through,
Hell of a
And why are you complaining?
Do you want something but don't want to spend the points?
That SEEMS to be what it is coming down to...
some sort of made Gun envy.
Once a Novice BH gets Underhand Shot (Which they basically get it right when they hit Novice BH) they use it all the time
There are an exceptional few BH's that picka different method of fighting tho.
I went thru the master marksman bull**edit**, the 40k combat xp, and the unarmed combat line for commando. By the same rationale is should be able to shoot a fair one with a bh.

Awww, yeah. As another Ranger / Carbineer, I'm feeling pretty useless. I also could have gone BH, had both master marksman and master scout, but after seeing how many people went BH and how optimal the profession was. I decided not to go that route. I am a contrarian. I'm at the 3rd tier of carbineer. The biggest problem I have with it is the speed. Using posturedown/knockdown specials is often the only thing that keeps me alive in combat. I would love to have the speed afforded to BH in their one carbine branch, but alas we get half as much in our whole tree.
Course, with all that speed, we would probably kill ourselves with the ridiculous HAM requirements of the carbines we shoot.
