Posted this on the main boards, but figured I throw it out here since it bothers me so.

Bounty Hunters are supposed to be good fighters. Fine. Carbineers are supposed to be the BEST with a carbine, since that's all they use. However, we're not.

Counting base stats here (not specials, since most of them are bugged to all get out anyways).

The two branches of Carbineer that deal with carbine accuracy and speed take 2.45 million Carbine experience to complete. Counting your inherent novice carbine bonus, you will have +25 Speed and +35 accuracy at the end of these two trees. Counting the master bonus, it goes to +35 speed and +55 accuracy, but that would take another 415k combat and 1.225 mil Carbine Experience.

The one carbine branch of BH takes 1.225 million to travel down. There is no novice BH bonus. However, at the end of this, you have +50 speed and +50 accuracy. When you master BH, that bonus goes to +50 speed and +60 accuracy.

So, even though as a carbiner you spend 3.675 million exp, while bounty hunter spends a third of that, you will never be the equal of a BH.

What's insane is if you take two people of the exact same ability, and one practices THREE times more than the other, he will naturally be better. Why is it any different in SWG??

It is sad to see how the bonuses are at this moment concerning the speed/accuracy of the BH compared to the Carbine profession. Anyone who chooses not to be a Bounty Hunter, but chooses the carbine profession, feels a little discouraged because of the fact that someone can just spec one line and out match them in speed/accuracy.

Woe is the carbine, but Ihighly doubt there will be any sort offix anytime soon since this isnot asevereissue at the moment.

Well..

If it's any consolation to point out.... a carbineer can take SO many other proffessions and be much more well rounded than the Bounty Hunters will ever be.

A BH with 4 notch's of carbine has only 76 skill points remaining to do anything with. The mast BH has a whole 33 points left to be an individual with.

Whereas the Carbineer... only taking the 4 boxes for accuracy...has 201 left, TWO HUNDERED AND ONE! and the master carbineer you say? Well the master Still has 158 skill points to be all he can be.

So.. i ask you, which of these has "dedicated more of himself to being the best of what he does?" I'd have to say that that bounty hunter has obviously neglected nearly every other part of his life just to be THAT GOOD.

Oh and before you ask, i'm a carbineer too, not a bh..

Just trying to ease your pain, and put it into perspective for you.

You are basing your conclusion on one element of a comparison. You've completely left out the special moves avaialable to Carbineers vs Bounty Hunters, and you've completely left out the additional carbine certs that Carbineers get (Bounty Hunters get no new carbines beyond what's available to a Master Marksman)

Specials and equipment stats have already been proven numerous times to be more valuable and important then raw skill. Bounty Hunters need high accuracy bonuses because their bounty missions are always target much higher level then they are, and these are missions the BH NEEDS to advance, and there are no tricks to getting easier missions.

Then there's the simple fact that it takes more then twice the skill points to master BH then it does to master Carbineer, and considerably more then twice as much effort to become a BH as it does to become a Carbineer.

"someone can just spec one line and out match them in speed/accuracy"

Except for the fact that someone would have to spec 8 entire other lines before even having access to that one line, and then get 40k combat XP on top of all that. I've got friends who are well on their way to Mastering Carbineer, while with roughly the same amount of time spent playing, I'm about halfway to just becoming a novice BH. So my counter argument is simply, why would anybody put all the effort into being a BH if they could have superior carbine skills by becoming a Master Carbineer, and then have 3 times as many skillpoints left over for other skills?

I dont think a carbineer has enough points to get bounty hunter and carbineeer both up high enough to be extremly good.

thats simply not true.

see my template thread. My template is master marksman/scout/carbineer with novice bounty hunter and BH carbine 1-3. that leaves me with 15 points for novice medic so i can use stim B's and i have a sick amount of carbine skill, far surpassing a master BH or master carbineer along with having pretty much all the special moves.

My pure BH/Carbineer template:

Look at the bonus' , but consider it isnt very well rounded.

However, I think this is better:

Can use / sub out medic as needed.

another thing to consider about master carbineer vs BH is not just the specials you get, but the bonuses to accuracy while moving, ranged defense bonus...even if it is wimpy, the bonuses to knockdown, dizzy , etc....

sure, if you get BH, you have pretty comperable stats on accuracy and speed, but your at a real deficit at alot of the smaller defensive values that i think way many people take fro granted.

I forsee a lot more BH Pistol/Pistoleers. It also doesn't hurt that the stances and grips line has to be the most beneficial PVP defenses. Not to mention that it is very easy to get (once you get 60k combat xp).

for those that didnt look, in those two templates i posted above... the first is a master carbineer wBH carbineer maxed also.

the second is bh/carbineer/pistoleer - with nice bonus' in everything - allowing you to be rather well rounded. attack whichever pool you choose on your oponentand use all the best specials from pistol and carbine lines.

Not to mention that there's nothing stopping a carbineer from also becoming a BH and being totaly insane with a carbine.
