I was thinking about what to do about this problem and how to solve it in a creative way that may actually be fun. I've been told by a few jedi that they can /duel you from up to 500m away! Now, if that's true, that's a real pain. Of course, it would require them to hover their cursor over every dot they see coming towards them to find out the name of who to /duel, and then typing out /duel so-and-so, but still. Also, I'm a bit confused as to how they can do this, really. Even when I'm on the Webweaver Path, looking for jedi, I don't even see the little blue and purple cluster of dots untilI get to within about 100m. I'm thinking that more likely, the informant standing outside the Ryatt Trail is letting them know who is on the way and the jedi just start typing in "duel Rheso" when they get the information, or maybe just writing it into a macro. Either way, it can pose a serious problem for our "first strike" advantage.
Someone in another thread mentioned macrobinoculars and this got me to daydreaming... I think it be really great if we could fix the broken ones we keep finding and put 'em to use. Perhaps a range of 600m or just outside whatever the range for /duel is. I'd even be willing to compromise something to make it so that binocs aren't just something that a hunter could go around and use all the time. Perhaps batteries for fixing binocs could be looted from the NPC missions rather than jedi AA's. This would be something that we could use rather than to help jedi with. Plus, it could be that the batteries only have a limited charge on them and so would only work a few times. As far as the mechanics of it, It would be great if it worked kind of like a /targe macro, but at an extended range. We could click on the binocs, our toon could do a little animation of holdin' them up to his/her eyes and target our mark if he's within range (and in the same instance of the Ryatt Trail) It may seem like a small help, but it's still a help, nonetheless, and not something that I could see jedi getting into a huge uproar about if it's done right.
Anyway, just a thought. Comments?

Uhm - Jedi can see you at up to 2048m in non-laggy areas if they set their radar to that distance. The range at which players become visible seems to depend on the lag, the more lag the closer the player can get without popping up on the radar. I usually have my radar at 256m or 512m in addition to my overlay map and I will see you if you are at 200m or closer, and I hover over every blue and purple dot and do a "/ex xyz; /tar xyz".
