Thread: DB issue.... I'm sure this will be a heated jedi/BH debate...

I just killed my 1st jedi mark today.
I watched him from about 15M for about 20 minutes as he dueled a number of people in front of the Bestine Starport. Finally, a 15minute duel with a TKM ended with my mark incapped.
I walked up, hit the U button, the DB timer started. 178K bonus. 211K total.
I didn't receive any hate tells. There were about 20 people in a group there watching.... I walked away 211K richer with a bunch of "?!?" in my chat box. They weren't directed to me....just a reaction to the corpse on the ground.Plenty of fingers were pointed at the other duelist.
The Jedi first /telled me about 10 minutes later...

Jedi: how did you DB me without attacking me?
Me: You were my mark
Jedi:Yes but you at least have to hit me one timein order to DB me. Anyways, I just reported that bug too.
Me:I don't think so. It is indeed possible to DB any TEFed enemy as long as you are in range. If it is indeed a bug, I'll report it too.
Jedi:It was never that way before. They had to attack first, and they didn't announce that change, so I'm just putting in the glitch problem. But congrats, you are the 1st BH in 2 months to kill me.
Me: Thanks for not hate-telling me. Some people are offended by cleverness.
Jedi:That's not really cleverness. It's exploiting a bug. It should get tossed to the devs, but rather it gets fixed or not I don't know, but I am going to to post about the glitch to warn other jedi as well on the forums.
Me: Exploitation is using a bug knowingly, that is not the case.

I'm not any sort of hard-core Jedi-hater, just doin my job. My opinion is that this mark wasn't exactly minimizing his vulnerability. He was not acting jedi-like. He got what he deserved. He learned a valuable lesson. It would be a let-down to see this get "fixed" and no longer be possible. Am I wrong here?

ignore him.... its working as intended.. u can db a mark even if some1 else is incaping him...

This isn't a bug.. this is working perfectly from what I understand..
If the jedi is incapped, and you show up and he's your mark..are you just supposed to sit there and wait for him to recover and heal back up?

I don't know about that "has-to-hit-first" thing, but as you depicted it :
Jedi showing off in front of everybody, I agree with you and probably would have done the same.

you are not wrong at all. personally i think ANYONE dueling in front of the starports should be killed, jedi or not. to be so selfish as to duel in front of the already laggy starports is just rude. 'jedi-like' or not does not even enter into the picture for me. adding to server and starport lag by dueling and pulling out pets in front of starportsfor no reason SHOULD be a death sentance.
as to the other issue if i, as a Jedi, let my guard down and duel to the point of incap... i should be killed.

the Jedi is a noob. thats the way its been for a looooooong time. no exploit no bug.

Excellent work and you killed him exactly the way a BH should. It is not a bug and he will find out soon from the CSRs and his friends....

I am a jedi and i am here to say that this is an EXPLOIT!!!! Just kiddin. It is fair game all the way. Next time ask the jedi if in PvP you have to attack someone first to do a deathblow. If he says yes, call him a noob to his face because he bought the account or just unlocked and never PvPed before. BTW I am a jedi and i say GOOD KILL!

Wow, 2 jedi making mature comments here. Either it's a full moon, or we are starting to see that there are indeed mature jedi in the universe. I look forward to mastering this proff, evan if i only ever take jedi bounties once or twice.(didn't start BH for that particular reason).

the jedi was not very bright. you have never had to attack first to db someone.

First, Congrats on your first Jedi kill.
Second, any Jedi who duels in front of a starport and gets himself incapped deserves to be DB'd by a BH for sheer stupidity.
Third, this mostly pertains to large scale pvp battles, if your mark is going down, make sure you get at least a shot in before he does. Timing is everything here. This way it locks out somebody from delivering the DB before you can. In a duel, I probably would have shot him a couple times as he neared incap. This prevents somebody from healing him.
Fate was with you my friendsincesomebody nearbydidn't immediately heal him upon incap.
