Hello folks, let me start off by saying this. I am not active in the boards although reading tonight it looks like I may have to be. Anyways I have no idea where to post this and what not so here it goes.

I was reading Thunderhearts "classic post" post and while reading the post I got to thinking about rarity of jedi (yes I know that wasnt the idea on his posting but this is what I thought) and yes I believe jedi should be rare and yes I believe there are too many now and that jedi is too easy to get. I liked the fact, back in the day that NO ONE knew how to become a jedi, it was great!!!! yet so frustrating.... sure it took forever for the first jedi to come out, but if you think about it, it didnt take that long at all. now the whole demise, imho, was the introduction of holocrons, and I know a good portion of you will agree (yet do not post about that, thats not the purpose of my thread) Jedi is not something that should be done in a matter of days, maybe even weeks, it should take a great deal of time if you ask me. I used to play everquest for a great amount of time, about 5 years. I see jedi as gaining level 65 in everquest (the highest lvl you could be at the time of my leaving) it isnt something that should be done while you are AFK or something you can grind in a day, I see jedi as a completely different thing. I LOVED the idea of knowing jedi was done all by proffessions, and I loved the fact that you got hints of those proffessions, until it got crazy, and you seen a flood of entertainers in the cantina spamming "help a holo grinder out in his 3rd holo and watch me" or heard people saying "yeah I have to !@#$% grind out armorsmith for my 4th holo" it was absurd, and then the revamp, the badge system and trials, while a good idea it still isnt the same everyone knows what to do...... I personally bought this game just to become jedi, but I bought this game to become jedi at a great expense..... knowledge and aspiration........ I didnt want jedi to be a thing as common as seeing Teras Kasi Masters I wanted to be able to look at a jedi and say "oooohhhhh a jedi!!!!!" and not run by jedi like they're nothing........ Sure I want to be a jedi, sure thats my whole reason for playing, but I wanted to be the rarity in the game..... I wanted to work for it, I was prepared to work for months on it, perhaps years (while I know most of you aren't in total aggreance with the months and years thing thats fine) Jedi is something that needs to be tough tremendously tough. And while I know Jedi are your guys' "eye candy" and appeal for the game, soon it will not be. I would love to see Jedi go back to the old ways...... and not just proffesions, maybe quests, proffesions AND some badges or perhaps an "epic quest" like in eq......, perhaps a pre-determined 2 or 3 proffessions that need to be done and a few random quests along with some poi badges or something, I dont know ANYTHING BUT THIS!!!! pre-holo grind was the best thing ever imho, sure people were getting pissed but at least it would still be a mystery on how to get jedi...... and if not a mystery now it sure would have stayed a mystery for a GREAT deal of time. And if by some miracle you do take this post into consideration, please keep the ways on becoming a jedi a secret...

it's 4 am guys sorry if this doesnt make sense LOL it makes sense in my mind tho I'll be checking this thread daily to see the replies, any questions I'll be happy to clear up my sleep-lacking post lol sorry if I double post I got the page cannot be displayed

I think the mystery was this it wasn't implemented at first then snuck in?? and just cuz some ol guy in the movies says that all the jedi are dead bar a few don't mean its true the are of space SW is in is huge there is also bad lands were jedi could hide to say they are rare is just an assumption we don't realy no anything bar the little bits of infomation from a few books that people wrte about and the movies hell I could write a book in the org time line and have a jedi running around with 4 others outside the empires domain! thats why perhaps they should add a few planets outside of the GSW were even rebel dare not go.

PS the emperor is losing his touch he can't see all that will happen and can't sense all the jedi that are walking about the force is a fickle beast and not always into sharing it secrets

as old ben pointed out not even yoda can see the future he just see's glimpses.

Rarity works in the film, not here. Nearly all people who bought the game bought it for the same reason as you, to become a jedi in the end. So you just told us an oximoron by stating Jedi should be rare and that you bought the game to become one.

This is not the film, these are not the books, this is "just" a computer game.

I feel no urge to command jedis to be rare, in opposition, I would like to have each player a jedi and be free to play it whenever (s)he likes, because that is what I want for me ... same right for all
Why should I wish others to have no jedi while I myself desperately want one?
And this has nothing to do with how hard it should be to become a jedi, it is just accepting the fact that nearly everyone wants one.

aye we pay to play a game and have fun and for some jedi is a dream you know we were kids retending to be jedi making fake sounds etc etc! now we have a chance to play out that dream on a grand scale ie a mmorpg!

just seems that some people don't want you to have fun cuz

A) Its to hard for them so it should be harder or removed
B) I never liked jedi so you shouldn't like jedi
C) Jedi destroyed this game yada yada yada

perhaps the bugs and lack of things to do destroy the game! (I think the whine kills the game myself)

As you know it the responsiblity four bounty hunters to keep the jedi popoulation down. But it is very hard as 99.9% of the server want jedi so there is always increasing amount of jedi. So i have the idea that jedi have a limited amout of lives before loosing jedi or becoming glowie. Secondly the badges requires really need thinking out, most people can get them in a day or so. So they need dramatically increasing and including hard badges such as corvette badges, avatar, etc...

Youre wrong in your first sentence.
Bounty Hunters do not control the Jedi population. No player class controls the number of people in another player class. BH is for people who like 1 vs 1 duels and enjoy stalking their mark, finding a good time to attack and like being the underdog while doing it.
Concerning your other ideas, youre talking about perma death. Perma death was in game and got taken out for good reasons.
Moreover, to become glowy you need content badges. You cannot get all content badges you need easily within 24 hours. There are some easy ones which take a long time (imperial / rebel themepark for example) or others who dont take long but are hard (corvette missions for example).

First of all, it is not our job to keep the Jedi population down. The most we can do is slow down the progression of a few Jedi, but we will never be able to lower the population. Unless we hunt them so much they get mad and quit. But that is a rare case.

You are right about how it is so easy to become Jedi, and about the amount of people that want to become Jedi. There have been many topics postedfrom people requesting that the Jedi population be controlled somehow, but the Devs seem to favor the Jedi so much, that as far as I know, they never even respond to those posts. I doubt that it will change. The age of Jedi has arrived, and anyone that is not Jedi will just have to take a back seat. Pretty sad really when a Jet Pack is even more Rare than the Rare Jedi. Go figure.

As for your "X amount of Deaths" idea, it has already been done. Back in the old days, once a player unlocked, he got his second toon. That second toon was his Jedi. Not like it is now, where you main becomes the Jedi. Your Jedi toon could only die a certain amount of times before your Jedi was no more. I think it was 3 deaths? They called it Permadeath. SOE has already made it clear that they will not bring back Permadeath. So no matter how many times a Jedi dies, the Jedi will never go away.

There is a post here about a Jedi Free server. Check it out. Other people feel the same way as you do. But alas it is a dead horse that we just kicking. Some day it will rot enough that we will have nothing to kick anymore. But I'll keep kicking whats left lol

Actually Vette and Themepark badges are no longer a requirement. Hunter badges, Nekrosis, Avatar, DWB Overlord....they will work in place of a themepark.

with permadeath also came jedi > 15-20 regular players. jedi were originally to be able to take down 20+ mundanes. is that what you want back?

Wrong. They have to be Jedi for you to be able to hunt them, and until the Devs make it where they lose their Jedi for being killed so many times, no matter how many times you kill a Jedi, he's still a Jedi, and you've dont nothing to "keep the jedi population down".

NO ITS NOT!!!!! MY GOD MAN, Man some of you have to help this guy in his first sentence.

Ok, do this ASK TANKS , send him a PM and ask , "Hey is it my job to some how use magic and stop a guy from unlocking in the village?"....

Think about this... now really think hard here: HOW CAN YOU STOP A UNLOCK? Can you stop the grind in the village? Can you stop that Malichie misson from happening to that player? Can you stop that player from chosing FS Skills?

You guys have got to get some of these people on the understanding of the roles:

ITS YOUR JOB TO SLOW THE GRIND NOT STOP THE UNLOCK... AT NO TIME CAN YOU STOP OR TAKE A MISSON ON A NON-JEDI UNTIL HE IS JEDI!

Just think about this... When do you have the means to attack one? Not while he is a Novice TKM in the village lol.

Your role: Slow the grind for carefree Paddys

My role: To die if the above happens and or to fight if this happens etc..

Thinking its your right to stop a player from unlocking is stupid.
