Thread: Bounty Hunting Verses players afk

I have just achivd my Padawan status after many months, time and server dues paid. I have worked hard and long to achive it and I understand that the BH trade is an integeral part of the game ..hey I understand it is SW and fully enjoy the chase. But I am and adult, maried and wiith children and at times have to leave the game abruptly to cary out responsabilitys and I dont expect them to wait wile I erect a house log or do what ever to find a hidding place safe from a BH. I have been killed wile having to leave the game quickly to attend a family matter and once waiting to spawn to my ship at a term .. I think this is unfair and is a of mytime as ittook me 2 to3 hours to reagin the lost pointseach time I was killed.it is diferant if I wasactive and I was ambushed or challenged ..that is the game. but even ambushing I think isnot that fair of a play and is borderline and very one sided ..ambushing as in like waiting to spawn or waiting for a shutle ..I think this is negative practice for younger players ..but I also understand it is SW but I think there should be a chalange if not why cant Jedi ambush BH's on sight if they choose to be Dark side Jedi lets see the BH's run like gohpers and hide at every blue dot that apears on the screen. I just whish this issue to be modified. Look I was a BH when CU came out to get the wepons and Ham I made 1 jedi kill and I found out it was a player who was afk IT WAS MY LAST PVP BH mission as I felt bad and it was totaly dishonorable and not fair and other than a few credits and such no fun at all..I have seen to many jedi go down from qestionable BH practices. I enjoy the Game enjoy the chalange of the grind even though it is excesivly long but I understand why :/butto keep positiveit makes the completion evenmore rewarding.But I hope there wil be a cahnge in the way BH can come after there mark other than the last publish there was some positive changes and all but still needs some modificationBounty hunting is entegral and abig part of SW but I am not 12 and wish to play the game with honor and fair play.

If I track you for 20-30 minutes, use droids/foods/spices/powerups (all of which cost money), and I get to you, I'm going to attack you. I have to go AFK sometimes too -- I have a 15-month old boy, sometimes I gotta let the dogs out, sometimes the wife needs me, sometimes the phone rings, sometimes there's someone at the door. I've had the power go out while fighting before and booted back up into the cloner.


So, as much as you might have to go AFK and a BH gets you while you're gone, I might have to go AFK in the middle of a fight myself. So do us all a favor and either play your alt or avoid visibility with your Jedi.

If you are unable to type /logout, walk inside a house, or fly up into space you are not safe. If you want a pause button you are playing the wrong type of game. I suggest one of the Knights of the Old Republic games.

we bh have nothing to worry about if we go AFK before the battle..unlike you jedi who have to avoid eating/going to the bathroom because in those few mins, you could be dead.

Yep definitely try to type /logout before leaving and if you are going AFk for more than a minute or so definitely log. Yesterday on DantooineI made the mistake of doing /quit after a lightning storm started, I haven't seen a BH fight in months.Today I logged in quite surprised with wounds and -450K Jedi xp. Hard to believe as it is, must have been in the time it took for me to go LD to complely gone a very lucky BH came and snapped my life away or had been watching me beforeI logged out. Grats to whoever it was, I have no idea since my client was already down, but I really would have enjoyed a fight! I've been looking forward to some good match ups Anyway, easy lesson re-learned the hard way - sit and logout, don't quit or disconnect. It's worth the extra 30 seconds.


As far as ethics is concerned, it goes with the territory. It's along the same lines as load killing. Nothing really says it can't be done, but it is usually frowned upon by the community as "dishonorable" and people react the way you did.Personally, I just hate thatI get killed without having a chance. I enjoy the thrill of the fight. But I don't hold it against whoever did it, they were there for my bounty, and got it however they could. That's their job.

I'd say that if you really want FAIR play, do not choosse a profession that is by nature unfair since it has some innate advantages and is officially admitted by the devs as being 1.5 time more powerful than regular professions.


Bounty hunters are forced into using all tactics available, because their marks have so many ways to win a fight or at least not lose it (escaping with force run, cloak, friendly vehicle, then hiding afk in a house, hiding on Kashyyyk, hiding in space....). The percentage of missions that can actually be completed is relatively low.


These tactics can sometimes be dirty tricks, such as killing AFK and LD marks. As long as there is no exploiting, I do not see any problem in this, since it is the choice of the mark to have a bounty on his head, making him attackable 24/7 with no warning, ready to fight back or not.


Please Jedi stop asking for fair fights, or use regular professions to actually make them fair and make your opponents feel like playing fair.

Kind of harsh, not every jedi exploits, and many Jedi are not 1.5x regular player so stop whinning. I agree as does everyone else in this thread that id you have to go afk you can logout in 30 seconds. However being attacked and killed during load in is BS whether it happens in regular PvP, or BH/Jedi PvP...They really need to add the 60 second delay back in, you should not be able to kill me because my character appeared in the starport/shuttleport 30-45 seconds before my load in screen went away.

Boohoo I've had to leave in the middle of tanking a krayt for someone and had half a group killed lol...


If you dont want to be attacked while unattended dont leave your jedi unattended. beating a jedi is hard so if a BH finds an oportunity to make the fight easier they will take it. I attacked an AFK jedi earlier today because the opportunity knocked(although it turned out he had tried /duel on me and put AFK to bait me in...after a long fight I lost...but oh well)

yup the closest thing to fair play in this game would be /dueling a friend. PvP is often one-sided, and bh/jedi --well it has to be. U mentioned u like "the challenge of grinding even if it is really long" - what is the challenge in grinding? u dont face lossed xp. its just a test of how long u can put up with killing bols. Bringing Bh's into the equation is what makes it a challenge if anything. u should thank us!

sorry man but 30 secs is all it takes do go /logout and say 30 sec to find place where you don't get agro( don't tell me you can't take a min to do it), anytime you go afk with a jedi you run a risk of dieing!


i to have kids real life responsiblities and some times have to go afk if I come back dead then my bad for not logging
