Thread: Accuracy?

First of all I want to say sorry. I'm totally sure this issue has been debated in more than 1 post.

Tho when searching for "accuracy" in the pikeman-forum, I got 202 hits. I'm not gonna sit and read them all.

My appologies.

Now to my question: Are pikemen really meat to have this bad accuracy?

I'm halfway to the novice box, where I think I will get accuracy +10 (sorry, my server is offline atm, can't check) Even with that, I'll get -40 in total, at best. Next skill up to accuracy will be in one of the top boxes (the one for combat xp?). If I'm gonna miss so many hits, it'll take decades (ok, a little less) to become Master.

Right now, I feel like I wouldn't even be able to hit a lake, were I to sit on the very bottom of it.

And while I'm at it: How come there are no more weapons for pikemen? There are half a gazillion pistols on the market. Meanwhile, in the pikeman-tree, I think we have Wooden staff, Reinforced staff, Metal Staff, Lance, Long Vibro Axe and Vibro Lance. What's that? Six weapons? And thelast one you get from the novice box? I'm starting to see why there aren't many Master Pikemen around. To be honset, I don't think I've seen one yet (and I play on 2 servers)

I've seen ONE master pikeman in the past 2 months on eclipse. I'm only 1/2/2/almost2 myself.

It seems like a tradeoff:

I can either do massive amounts of damage... IFI hit, that is.

Or, I canbruise and scratchwhatever I'm fighting every 4.2 seconds.

I got incapped by a rock beatle yesterday... twice. They con blue or light blue to me. (I wasn't using any of my pets at the time. 4/4/2/4 CH, 2/1/4/4 Medic). Thats how bad our accuracy is. I can heal for 600 and I still got incapped... twice.

Micoh Macol - yup, I'm kinda back for a while maybe

Pikeman: ...Who?
Pikeman : The only class that couldn't hit the ground even if they dropped their weapon.
Pikemen: The few, the proud, the incapacitated.
Pikeman : This is gonna hurt me more than its gonna hurt you...

Gagral, yes, the original design (atleast in Beta, and was true for a while) was that we had horrible accuracy, but when we HIT, it HURT.

The problem is, now we can't hit, AND we can't do damage. I'm the only Pikeman I know of on Lowca ATM, I knew two others who have officially quit SW:G completely and went back to EQ because of the lack of response from devs heh.

I'm a little curious, Metroid- what was changed from Beta to the current pikemen setup that allowed us to do more damage?

Well, I can't nail it down myself, but during/near the end of beta when they first introduced the weapon certifications, we were certified for weapons earlier that did more damage hten anyone else. So while people had D18's/CDEF's we had good lances and were starting to get vibrolances. We still had knockdown as our primary strength (Which I admit was overpowered), but we also did the most damage out of the available professions. Then they buffed TKA, they buffed ranged, they buffed TKA again, they nerfed it, then buffed it again, I didn't even read the updates for a week or so becuase so much changed.. but basically we got 'forgotten'. We we're the only class that could 1 hit in PVP for a while, then they modified the way damage is calculated, reduced how much damage you do to players, then added stuff like "Bonus to damage if holding rifle" blah blah blah... I honestly know exactly where things went wrong. I think it was primarily the KD nerf recently that hurt, not because we lost our MAIN ability, but becuase it was the only thing 'masking' our weaknesses. We didn't do very good damage previous to it, and we had horrible accuracy/HAM, everyone knows that.. but we could keep creatures pinned down, so we could do horrible damage for a while and eventually win. Same in PVP. They removed KD, and now our horrible weaknesses have just been shoved into the light.

Heh, It's kinda like we're the only ones left naked in the street, unfortunately.

Forgot to mention, they 'nerfed' the cert system because people were complaining that they had to be master rifles to use T-21's, etc, and felt it wasn't fair, so the devs caved in (Because the ranged players are the majority) and we went back to being better at a point for point level.

No, weapon stats haven't changed, but we do get additional accuracy modifyers

Hello All,

What's the deal with accuracy on those hammers? My alt is close to mastering and I still seem to get 5 or more misses in a row against things like quenkers, unless I knock them done, in which case they still sometimes counterattack. I've read in posts that swordsman dont come into their prime until they master. To be honest I am thinking about dropping it due to the severe lack of defense that is offered as well as the fact that time and time and time again I miss. When can you start counting on getting some consistent hits in with those power hammers?

How much is too much? MBH + Carbineer 0400 = 180 Carbine Accuracy. Is that over kill?

So there is never too much? Even considering the new defence stacking changes?
