Thread: Population Control Remix (taken from a tree hugger website)
Currently, there are approximately eightJedi for everyBounty Hunterin the galaxy. Laws restrict the number ofJedi that Bounty Hunters may kill.Jedi do not have monogamous mentorrelationships, andPadawans will oftenlearnfrom more than one Master. As a result, the ratio ofPadawans toMasters sets the stage for a population explosion.
Allowing Bounty Hunters to kill more Jedi, however, does not resolve population problems. Inpast centuries, the open hunting ofJedi left force sensitivepeople without direction, and removed too manyforceglowing personsfrom the population.Bounty hunting decimatedJedi populations on many planets. As a result,Developerswrote coderestricting the hunting of Jedi. These policies have contributed to the overpopulation of Jedi.
Bounty Hunting does remove someJedi from the population, but it does not keepJedi populations at a continually reduced level. Immediately after a hunt, the remainingJedi flourish because less competition forKasshyk spawnexists, allowing the remainingJedi to live healthier lives, and resulting in a higher reproductive rate.
Left alone by marketing, the ratio ofMaster toPadawan would be approximately equal. "In Defense ofJedi" believes thatBounty hunting is not only an ineffectiveJedi management tool, but a cruel and unnecessary practice.Bounty hunting should be banned, allowingJedi populations to regulate themselves naturally.
Restrictingbounty hunting, however, is only one of the measures needed to controlJedi population. We also need to change themarketing policies that create largeJedi populations, and to limitplayers accesstoforce sensitivitythroughout the galaxy.
