Thread: A thought on cloak

I think Jedi cloak is a really neat trick and it should be in the game. However I think that the implementation of it is a little off. I fully understand and appreciate why a jedi would need to escape. EXP losses can suck, and there might be some other jedi-worldly reason for full temps that I dont know about. My issue here is that it is pretty much fullproof unless you have a root.
I have fought a few marks today(2 full, 1 4 sp left) and they all battle me for 20 mins,see they will lose, root, run, cloak. then wait for their force to build up. Most sending tells either mocking, or good fight.
I just think if the devs upped the force drain, then jedi would have to make a choice early. Fight the BH, or run. And when they ran, they could still be found eventually because their force could run out. If they choose to escape early enough in the fight, they could put a good few kilometers in before we knew what to do .
There would have to be tweaking to seeker droids, but that is inherent. the system now doesnt make a lot of sense. If all of your instruments are pointing to where a mark is cloaked...why wouldnt you just shoot the area up in desperation?.
Tweak the droids so they are muddled by the cloak, then let a chase ensue once they come back. Maybe alter the tef so they cant just cloak and run to a house. But they can cloak and make it off system.

eh...i think cloak shouldnt be activated when they're tef'd because they're clouding your mind so you don't see them and you kinda see something you're shooting at but what do i know.

i read somewhere that the dev's vision/design of cloak was it being an alpha strike ability, not primarily a method of escape. i'm not sure where people started propagating this idea that it was ONLY for escape.

about the time BH started hunting padis I guess. I clairify that by the tef being up, they cant be attacked, but they also can run into a player house and hide. They can run across the planet then uncloak, get rid of tef and go off planet, which by all means is a realistic means of escape. Much better than cloak, run to "dojo" laugh. I still get irked about the whole sit in house grind off vis thing, but I can live witht hat
