Many people have gone Rifles simply because their minds take Rifles=More damage= the best.

I've used Pistols, Rifles, and Carbines, and personally of them I find Carbines to be the most versatile and the best of the 3. Assuming you find a good carbine the damage wont be that much more of a difference, plus Charge Shot is much more useful then Underhand shot, and if you have pistols 0003, you have 2 Snares a root and CHargeshot instead of knockdown.

If you choose to go rifles you can, but its really not any better then carbines, the only real advantage to rifles is the range and startle shot, but I personally dont think it would be worth regrinding over as their pretty much a wash, neither is TRUELY better then the other, certain weapons fit certain peoples playing styles better.
