Personally I like the idea - but it would mean a complete overhaul of Smuggler profession - and I for one ain't gonna hold my breath waiting for that.

Also, being forced to follow a bounty hunter could result in a LOT of greiving. Imagine a bounty hunter who had a bad day at work, he feels like pissing someone else off too. He sees a smuggler walking around in a city, and happens to know he's on the terminals. He catches him and, the smuggler being unprepared to fight, goes to the terminal because it's close and he has money. The bounty hunter then starts to run out of the city into the wilderness and just stands there. The smuggler is stuck. No good there, lol, I for one don't want to be dragged back (used to be a bh) into the flame-fest about greiving between them and jedi.

We have been talking about that for over a year now, and while it is a great idea and I would love it, its not new. Read threw some of the older forum posts you will find tons of great ideas on how to make it happen in a way that is fair and grief free. Risk vs Reward comes to mind as one way to do this (Im at work and dont have time to find the thread on it but its in here)

"Wait for the Smuggler Revamp."
Smuggler's get no love, I left to try hunting Jedi, wasn't particularly great since I was a ranged bh.

What was done to try to get it implemented?
Over a year's worth of war with the dev's (they have put our re-vamp off and off and off) all the older smugglers will tell ya at this point we are waiting on sold re-vamp info. We have done the work sent it to the dev's and lost correspondents over the year but we are smugglers 100% and for the love of our profession we wait, wait for some love from the dev's. On the upside one of the best dev's (greenmarine) will be doing our re-vamp eta 5 or 6 months.....

I, personally, don't want to be hunted by a bounty hunter at the moment because all I would be is easy money. There is no reward currently in the system to make up for the risk of being hunted. UNTIL something gets implemented that makes being a target worthwhile, i will be against this idea.

The ideas that were talked about were in a risk vs reward situation (post re-vamp)and no one feels every smuggler should be just tossed to the wolves. Bountys on smugglers would be based on mission/quest failure or stealing cargo giving smugglers a choice (i.e. tempt fate pay the price) again a great deal of information can be found on a fair system in the back pages of this forum. To just dismise the idea with out reviewingthe infothat was put forth is a little short sighted.

If 'bring him alive' (because the Smuggler failed a high risk NPC mission and thus owes a compensation to his former employer) missions were ever to be implemented, I would suggest automatic teleportation (via a shuttle that 'picks him up') of the Smuggler to his former employer and the BH mission giver (Jabba, Colonel Veers, Nym etc.) where he would pay his fine directly to them and settle his dues. Another solution would be for the Bounty Hunter to have an option to 'extract' the money the Smuggler owes to his former employer. In both cases, the BH mission would be completed without a deathblow. If, however, the Smuggler doesn't have enough money to pay up, a deathblow would complete the BH mission. Comments?

Personally I always saw smugglers on the same team as Bounty Hunters. We're both willing to bend the law for an extra buck. Then that Solo guy had to ruin the reputation we work hard to achieve by going to fight for a cause?? Lonestar passed up a million spacebucks for gas money?? Perhaps they got tired of waiting for the revamp as well.
I can just see it now....cue daydreamy music....BH comes throught the cantina door blasting away with his lightning cannon incapping you and a few afk entertainers near by. He stands there. Looks at you. /adn He says. You finally recover wondering why he didnt finish you. He then says under his composite helmet, "Hey can you slice a weapon for me, I want more damage"

Lets say if the smuggler does fight the BH and wins, what reward would be fitting of a smuggler?

All the BH does is lead the Smuggler toa terminal. Once there, the debt is either auto paid, or it is not. If not, PvP results. Either way, the Smuggler would not be stuck. Unless you mean the BH purposely leads the Smuggler away from the terminals. In that case, a time limit perhaps or the option of resisting stands just in case that happens. What do you think?
