Thread: Question on Defense

So I am going up the TKA tree, and I am getting all these defense bonuses (Melee Defense, Ranged Defense). Now I have read a couple posts about them not working, so is this true? Do we get any defense bonuses to being a melee class, or do we have to go buy composite armor like every other commando or bounty hunter in the game. (I am trying to be unique and not like every other composite, uber-class-of-the-month chump)

As a TKA you get Unarmed Toughness i think its called...mine is at 57 as a TKM, that means when i am unarmed(counts with Vibroknuklers) i get a 57% dmg reduction from melee attacks(kinetic only im not sure).


Example: Mr Rancor wants to party, i have a gun out (going to bleed em first or whatever) he hits me for 450 dmg to the Body, OUCH, now i switch off the gun to my fists(or VK) he hits me again for the same dmg, i only take 205 dmg, because of unarmed toughness. Plus any armor worn, etc.


Ok, Melee and ranged defense makes it harder for the enemy to hit you with the respective attacks.


::ehem:: DEVS, TKA should get more unarmed toughness at master, also a little more melee and ranged defense. (Melee especially, im kung fu master! waaaaa!)

If Igo up the Rifleman tree and get the +40 Ranged Defense, will that still work while im using my BH skills or will it just work when I am using a rifle?

Probably because they do not understand how it was coded, or possibly it doesn't work anyway like they planned and they have yet to learn how it actually does work.

Hoping someone can help me out with this one please as I'm a bit in the dark on defenses since publish 7 went live.


I'm a master commando who picked up TKA 0404 mostly to bolster my defenses (and use the KD/dizzy combo) seeing as what commando gets is laughable. But since publish 7 I'm not sure how the defenses for TKA act when I'm using my trusty flamer.


Does my melee defense still apply at full value regardless of the weapon I'm using, or do I now have to have a melee weapon equipped to enjoy that benefit ??.... or is it possibly that I get the commando portion of my melee defense when I have my flamer equipped and the TKA portion of the defenses apply when I have my VK equipped ???... I'm soooo confused


(Same goes for mitigation... does melee mitigation now only apply when I have a melee weapon equipped)


I'm asking this now because if my TKA is redundant, I'll drop it, rework my template and go for master rifleman to accompany my master commando.


Thanks in advance for any light anyone can shed on this for me

i got pistol def and when i use pistol they are working ( with rl they are working)..with ft and acid the yare not working ( bad think pistol aim not working for granades and rokets ..its sux)

Al defences apply when using all weapons, except for Counterattack, Dodge and Block. Defences only count up to 125 as well, I'm a TKM/Master Rifle/Fencer, I have 132 Ranged Def. But only 125 of it counts.

Do you have to have a lightsaber equipped for the mods from defender to count? Im looking at my future build, and wondering-while i transition to higher level jedi if those bonuses will help me if i have a blaster or melee weapon equipped.

Hello, its the doshan again I'm just wondering which would be more useful in terms of defense.


0040 force defender?


or


0400 force enhancer?


My sought out temp is Mpowers, 4400 sabers, 4000 healer, and either 0040 defender or 0404enhancer on terms of defenses

Usually you'll always have an armor break on you. Since melee/ranged defense is affected by AB I'd go with 0040 defender.

again.. two completely different skills. There's like 3 threads with this goin on. Aura (xx4x) is defense. Force armor (enh x4xx) is innate armor. They are both effected by a completely different formula. (one mitigates damage, one reduces, & effects chance-to-hit)

If your plannin on PVE, aura. Since your master powers, I'd say for pvp go with FA. IF you get in too much channel just flee and /cloak. I'd reccomend getting both tho if at all possible

I hope you guys take into account the defense mods that are in force defense trees which are lacking in force enhance. And I would like to have both but untill SOE fixes the powers output in damage and fix force weaken, I'm stuck with 4400 sabers for its damage capabilities...Imma need it for PvP once the FRS goes back live lol
