Thread: Question from someone who hasnt play in almost a year...
MBH + TKM is not a great combination. if you are going MBH you are better off master either rifles, carbines, or combat medic. if you master one of those ranged profs, you should get one line in combat medic. most people get CM4000.
also, you wrote that you want to "unlearn" doctor. this sounds like you might inadvertantly surrender your doctor skills outside of the respec window. DO NOT surrender any skills outside of the respec interface. you will completely lose those boxes permanently if you do. during the first few days of the CU some prankster told a jedi that he had to surrender all his jedi boxes before he respec'd. the jedi surrendered all his boxes and lost EVERYTHING.

So BH should never go in melee? Before I left I know as a TKM I could actually stand up to some Jedi, sounds like that has changed.
What are the benefits of Rifle or Carbine over the other? Is pistoleer not a good option?
Also, with CM4000 what kind of skills do you get?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm having a hell of a time relearning. I was going to delete and start over but when the window popped up about respecing I decided to say later and do some more reading. TKM/Master Doc seems pretty worthless now.
rifles and carbine are a good option because they are high damage, long range. i haven't hunted jedi with carbines, but i believe the main difference is that rifles have greater damage than carbines, but carbines have a larger variety of specials/state effects. pistoleer is NOT a good option because you will always be in range of the jedi's saber, and pistolsare "relatively" low damage weapons. pistoleer is mainly a support profession, since jedi hunting is 1 on 1, you cannot use the strengths of the support profession effectively in that scenario.
people take CM4000 for the high power heals. you need healing, whether you're hunting jedi or hunting the new PvE boss marks. combat medic is more desirable than doctor heals because 14 skill points of the novice medic prerequisites are shared with bounty hunter prerequisites. myself i have CM0400for the poison/fire dots mainly because it's fun to throw dots
i get along fine with the basic heals i get.
if you want to stand up to jedi, i recommend MBH+MRifles+CM4000, or MBH+MCM+Rifles4000. i think the MCM template is more effective than the MRifles template, however my opinion is MRifles is more fun to play since the fights will be decided in five minutes, whereas with MCM you are guaranteed a long fight. personally i like to get the fights done quick, win or lose.

I was just looking through your pictures of Jedi killed. It looks like you're a rifleman, do you get lots of kills off with sniping from a distance? Also I see you use Recon armor, any particular reason why? Because all I ever used to want was some scout trooper armor and I see they added it for recon=)

Ah, I see. That helps, I'm looking for fights that I can end quick and dirty. I like to think long drawn out fights usually mean something went wrong. So it sounds like rifle is a better fit for me.
Do most people who go rifleman use the lightning rifle? Or is there a better option?

I come back and it says I can respec my skills. So since on my second account I never got MBH, I was gonna respec my main to MBH. I'm TKM/Master Doc right now, so I assume I could unlearn doc and go MBH. My question is(if I can do this), is MBH/TKM worth a damn? I just thought it would be nice to have melee abilities to go with firearms. Alot has changed so I don't know if TKM is worth a damn anymore but I like the meditation.
If you are just now going back than you can change your temp i think 24 times or the time limit is 24 days i think. just make sure you change it using /respec DO NOT hit ctrl s and start deleating skills.
Sounds like mabari might be the best way for me to go for starters, cause I only have about a million credits to spend right now. I just need gear to get me started.
You mentioned having to dig in for a fight, what kind of strats do riflemen use if the jedi decides to go on the offensive? Hit and run? Or fight up close and take the penalty for shots? Or do you use pistol for backup?

when the jedi closes range i dig in by turning duelist stance on, and when he gets his knockdown in i eat a synthesteak. i try to get the poison/fire dots in. when my action bar is 100% i do an /aim + drink deuterium pyro (gives me a combined accuracy of 750), then i KD + startleshot + adv. crit shot + head shot + torso shot (basically all my high damage shots) until my action bar is almost gone, but not completely gone. then i alternate between the basic range shot and placed shot. this is where having a 1.0 speed rifle comes in handy since you can fire off these specials once every second.
I was using my Krayt scatter with modified DPs of about 400 and my t21 with modified dps of about 440. Using the old comp armour as well. I'd be greatful for any suggestions.
