Thread: What good is assualt armor for a BH

I wear recon armor myself, but I wish BH had been Battle armor oriented.
If I remember right, RIS was an armor used by people who fought Jedi. Wouldn't it make sense that it's the armor type used by bounty hunters?
Anyway, yeah definately pick up a secondary profession, and almost anything you would pick up is going to be either battle or recon so you're set anyway.

Some marks will use melee weaponry, generally if you close to melee range.
Not that I'm saying that's a viable tactic or makes sense or anything, but they can swap to melee if they decide to do so.
I pointed out how stupid Assault armour was for BHs back when it was initially in testing. From a Jedi Hunter point of view, it makes no sense - Jedi sabers were always going to be either "Saber" damage or "Energy". And hunting NPC marks is primarily ranged fighting - if you get close enough for them to start whacking you with kinetic stuff, your tactics need looking at, not your armour.
The devs are absolute idiots. You'll just have to deal with it, because it ain't gonna change. :-|

What is dont get is why make protection againts attack based on your profession? There is no more 80% Stun Comp armor any more and a elite profession is needed to use armor why resitrict us?

Let me ask you, why don't you just pick up another ranged profession with the armortype of your choice? I mean Pistoleer and Rifleman have Recon, Carbineer has Battle. So why bothering getting another Recon or Battlearmor Cert as a BH? Oh and even if you become a MBH / MCM you have battlearmor cert. So what's all the whining about?

If you think back to the CU profession chart they actually had BH down as a "tank" profession!

bump, no one has an answer to why bh's are stuck with assault armor????

Well, assault armor is great in PvE, because it blocks kinetic damage better then the other armor types. However, Jedi do energy damage with their light saber. You're better off fighting Jedi in recon armor because of this.

so again ill ask you, Why did bhs get stuck withcrudy assault armor. You would think that melee guys would get this stuff. Since bh's use 3 weapon types in their trees, they should be able to wear a choice of either battle or recon, not assault, right?

They more or less do get a choice when they choose their elite combat profession. Riflemen and pistoleers get recon, carbineers get battle, creature handlers get battle, squad leaders get assault. BH was never meant to be a stand alone profession, you are more or less required to pick up mastery in one of the elite ranged professions to be complete... and none of those professions enhance your assault armor mitigations at all.
Its the recon armor that makes pistoleer and rifleman so popular among BHs.
