Thread: THE DUEL EXPLOIT

Was on my MD/MC toon on Ahazi the other day walked into a cantina no armor holding my carbine and a jedi was standing just inside the door next thing I know I get /duel /endduel exploit! I laughed at the jedi and walked on into the cantina and passed another jedi where I get yet another /duel /endduel!
Then on my MBH toon on Chilastra I shuttle into Kraytia to hunt non loot dropping Krayts and I get 3 jedi doing the duel exploit and asking me who Im after and start buffing themselves and /offerride /offertrade again I wasnt in armor yet and had no weapon in hand nor was I hunting jedi....anyone else running into this silliness?

So instead of doing the /duel; /endduel BS, why not just go to Kaadara or Dearic and actually DUEL Bounty Hunters?
Save yourself the time and us the aggravation of dealing with cowards.

You have a very poor understanding of the "job" of a Jedi. They're the guardians of peace, justice and order in the Galaxy. They don't murder cops standing outside starports, they don't butcher Feral Wookiees on Kashyyyk (leave that to the Empire) and they don't run like cowards from a one-on-one fight.
But I'm not surprised to hear from yet another Jedi who has no idea of his role. Sadly it attracts more than its share of spineless powergamers who want to be "uber" until the odds are against them.

An exploit is when you take advantage of a bug. The /duel/endduel thing is not a bug, it's how they designed it. They programmed it with the intent of giving the /duel'er a message that they cannot duel because the other person can attack them.
Working as intended.

Don't you love it how everyone refers to things they don't like as an exploit? You can blame this one however on the Bh's who WERE useing an exploit on the /duel to prevent the Jedi from attacking....

CAN WE STOP GENERALIZING?? What I mean, many of us Jedi do not use exploits. We didnt use grenades to do our fs grind. Heck, I didnt even use respec (I did respec once to MLS just so I could craft me the best saber I could, but I respec'd back 12hrs later), 2x xp to help me gain more and more, and I have never grinded on kashyyyk to avoid being hunted. Before pub20, I rarely grouped up to get xp. I unlocked my Jedi in March '05. I am not quite done with my template yet. Maybe that is my stupidity.
When I escape a bh and launch into space, usually the first thing I get is "meet you on kashyyyk". THAT has just generalized me as an exploiter.I am sure that this is the same thing for BH's. Cant we come up with a different term so that we are not generalizing each other??Oh we did. Respec BH, and Noob Jedi. Unfortunately, everyone has used these terms to "generalize" everyone into one or the other. I know the BH's that are children, you know, the ones that have no idea how to "hunt", and just want the jedi they are hunting to lay down and die peacefully. But they really are few and far between. The same can be said for Jedi. Yes, I use any skill that I have, to kill / escape a bounty hunter. But I atleast try to give a fight. I have never used an exploit to get my job done, because I feel that I can kill / escape ANY bounty hunter that comes for me. WITH THE SKILLS I AM GIVEN.Basically, all I am saying is I dont generalize all bounty hunters as respec noobs, and I wish that everyone else that plays this game can stop generalizing as well. I know its like wishing for world peace (something that will never happen), but its my wish.
That is not something to be proud of. There is no honor in running my friend.-Phinneus
Actually, nobody is required to stay in a fight. If somebody spends 117 skill points on MEnh and Cloak he has every right to use those skills whenever he feels like it. Using Stasis / FR3 / Cloak to escape is just his tactic of not letting the BH kill him. Nobody is required to build a tank template. If the BH is not able to kill the Jedi within 3 days the Jedi wins. Simple as that - no need to kill the BH.

To be perfectly honest, you have NO IDEA WHAT BEING A BOUNTY HUNTER IS ALL ABOUT.
So ka? If I get your mission, I'll kill you or die trying. I won't warn you, I won't drop your mission if you happen to be of the same faction as me (or any other reason), and if you bribe me I will take the money... and then kill you anyhow. Being a bounty hunter is about getting the job done.
If I don't have a mission on you, you aren't even worth the ammo. See, MY job isn't about honor - I don't care who wants you dead or why, all I care about is that someone feels you're worth more dead than alive. Maybe it's because you hang around outside starports and banks killing cops with a lightsaber. Maybe it's because you're an enemy of the state - doesn't matter to me.
And I don't care what you think about me -if I come for you, one of us dies. Unless of course, you run away like a poosy and hide in some little corner of an instance on Kashyyk, or in your house, or in the middle of a lake or something.
I really don't think any Jedi who hasn't got the courage and the honor to face someone one-on-one has any right calling themselves a Jedi, let alone judging me. You may think bounty hunters are low, but at least you don't see us running away, hiding, or grinding AFK.
So if you're so tough... why do you run?

Nothing wrong with running away. Your job is to kill the Jedi, if you are not able to keep him from running for three days you failed. The Jedis goal is to stay alive, the BHs goal is to kill the Jedi. Nowhere is stated that the Jedis goal is to actually fight and kill the BH.
Avoiding a fight has nothing to do with not being honorable.

yay! I'm not the only one who likes the "You sense a disturbance in the force" system message. Its stays in line with Star Wars lore and the jedi still can't tell who is hunting him...unless he is in a secluded spot and the only other character is the BH that is after him![]()

And just so you know, the Bounty Hunter has 3 days to hunt me. If you want to make the big bucks, you can bet it will last the 3 days for me.
Heres an idea:
You could try creeping up on a jedi, and -not- being seen. Because once you are seen, being in comp armour and having MBH badge, makes a jedi think you are after them. All the /duel does is mean jedi don't have to stop grinding, and watch every MBH that decides to sit on rader range and watch them.
Its annoying, I'm grinding... not afk on Wook like BH all complain about. Hell... I grind on Coreilla, easy to find. With other jedi. BH turns up, and sits on radar range watching us, so we all stop grinding and watch him. And it remains like this for about 10 minutes.
Now come on. Attack, or don't attack. Don't sit and grief, if you are spotted fly off and try to come back in 20 minutes. Have some patience, have some skill. Theres more to hunting jedi that a 1000DPS rifle!!!
