Thread: Combat Macro
This is discouraging...
So no one uses combat macros? You press function keys each time you want to use a special as opposed to having a preset macro up to do this for you?
ummmm..........for starters, you'd typically want to /aim before shooting...........so the sample macro you have is basically the combat equivalent of having the cart before the horse.
That not aside, /aim will take an attack round away from you so doing it in PvP will get you killed, at least if you do it too much. PvE you really should /aim only if you are using/concealshot as it does help improve your performance............slows it down a bit, but improves your accuracy.
In combat it's kinda hard to say what to use because it all really depends on the situation. If you are in a large force where you might not be taking direct fire but you can fire into a group of enemies then Adv Strafe would be the one to use..............if you are 1 on 1, HS3 or maybe MS2/HS3 combo would be the way to go. What rifle you use also is dictated by situation. In the first situation I described you might want a heavy damage t21..........but going 1 on 1 and the other guy is dressed in comp armor you'd use a jawa.
It's all trial and error............learn your shots and your rifles and keep your head in a fight. It might take you a few trips to the clone facility to get the hang of it.................and you'll still eventually take a trip to a clone facility if you aggro an AT-ST with your AoE when no teammates are close enough to help you out............live and learn, that's what makes it fun and interesting.
Personally, for Concealshot, I use:
/Concealshot;/Concealshot;/Concealshot
I go prone then hit the button at least twice to start. Then as long as the target is alive, I will queue up three more when it gets down to two Concealshots left. If I know it is big target, I will use this key to fill the combat queue with Concealshots.
my macros look like this:
/dump;
/strafe2;
/strafe2;
/about20morestrafe2
each macro for each attack is identical. i also have a /peace hotkey which gets me out of combat and dumps my queue. the reason for the /dump is that it clears any other macros that may be running and doesnt detract from the time to fire.
strafe2 is for general group attacks. conceal is for taking out one target ina group i use it for isolating babies. surpriseshot is for shooting one target in a group that already has massive action or health damage, i use it because it is a faster cycle rate than conceal. headshot 2 and 3 depending on ham i have left the target i am attacking and whether i want to take one target out quickly.
i dont use elaborate macros to spam different things in one macro. if i use a mindshot2 i just click the icon with the scroll button which sends two shots into the queue and then select a headshot attack.
hope this helps.
i use macro's for all sorts of things, but not for combat stuff except for stacking /mindshot2 /mindshot1. (though this will be obsolete next patch).
things change too quickly to rely on preset macro's when in combat. however,
i do use an armor macro ,
a food macro (eating food i put in hotslots and adding an alarm),
anmuon gold macro (adding alarm and eating muon),
switching hotbars from rifle to fencer and equiping the appropriate weapon for the specials on that hot bar,
a bleed healing macro (control-H is my /peace; /firstaid),
a macro for /target self; /cycle target outward (whatever the exact command is) is mapped to control-Q,
oh, and i have a looping Center of being macro mapped to control-B. turns on CoB, pauses 31 seconds, initiates macro again - works great. for added fanciness, i could use the clear combat queue command so that it doesn't wait for specials to finish before turning CoB on - but i really haven't had a problem with it.
I have 8 macros
1 is /headshot2
another is /strafe2
then /snipershot
another is to eat foods and the others are to switch guns. They are all mapped to my numpad and it makes things a lot easier than function keys.
