Not always and not for everyone. Ive had several times I've had to go search through my inventory for the item. Not sure what causes it.

Try this macro assigned to your space bar (not my idea-got this from someone else):
/harvest [creature resource of your choice];
/loot;
/bo trans;
/dismount;
/mount;
/deathblow;
I can easily get 100k in animal resources while hunting in a group.
edit for archives: don't have the bike selected when using the macro to dismount - you will get stuck on the bike. The macro is awsome for shuttle travel. You can activate it right after you purchase the ticket without moving - the bo trans has a long range for some reason.

I made this macro:
;/deathblow
;/loot
;/harvest xx
and tied it to a mouse button. One click and I'm off, most of the time if I'm close enuff I loot the corpse before it even hits the ground. Had to many bodies de-spawn on me to be messing around looking to see whats on it before I loot it.
...have to be in modeless mode. I use it all the time and have no problems. Works great when collecting resources, using shuttles, getting on / off mounts, loots, and DB... With the modeless mode, you have to press enter or / to initiate chat - the chat will not be effected by this macro. You can customize most of your keyboard to do whatever you want (example: tie in the F key for knockdown recovery). Makes playing easier (at least for me)
