One of the things I've learned is... practice, practice, practice. Your template is only half of the puzzle. You may have the exact template as someone else who is very successful, but that doesnt guarantee that you will be successful too. The key is tactics and KNOWING how to use your template to its greatest advantage. When to use key attacks, heals... when to be on the offense or defense... knowing when to go in for the kill, or when to run like hell.

I've fought against chars in the past with "lesser" templates, but lost because they had A) good tactics, B) (and most important) they were highly skilled at using their template.

My advice... duel your arse off. Ultimately duel with melee profs and jedisto get used to using similar tactics when fighting your mark, but duel with ranged too to see the whole spectrum of possible combat. Duel strangers, duel friends, get guildmates to duel you... you get the picture.

The more you fight, the better you'll get.

(This is all, of course, based on the assumption thatyour food/spice combination, weapon, and armor are top-notch).

The odds are too stacked against BHs after patch 20. Until we get some lovin, chances are we will lose a majority of the time. The BH profession can only take so many nerfs.

My template: MBH - MR - Pistols 0003 - Medic 0020

My line of thinking: I am not built to be a healing machine nor a defensive ultra tank. I am a very quite, sneaky little assassin. I am built for one thing only .. to kill with overwhelming force.

My simple strategy: (and this has been posted by several other vets before) Watch my mark. Pull up Cntrl V and watch what he does, where he goes, where his home is, what player city he runs missions out of .. things like that. Now go a'stalkin .. without making it too obvious your a bh. If I must be seen, then I equip a melee weapon and put on melee garb so as not to raise any eyebrows (since melee bh's are a thing of the past now .. jedi know this). Now plan out your ambush. Two of my personal favorites are near mission terms he likes to use .. or near the shuttle port he likes.

Now the fun part. Go under Cover around 60m'ish from the target spot .. and .. wait. This is where the patience comes in (to me cover is the best bh tool on the market .. it makes you "disappear" from both the radar and screen untill someone comes within 30m of you .. so make sure you do it somewhere with not a lot of foot/vehicle traffic). When your mark comes in, wait till he's either browsing the mission terminal .. or buying his shuttle ticket. Now strike!!

Open up with Sniper Shot (who cares if it breaks cover .. your job now is deal as much damage as you possibley can in 5-10 seconds). Immediatley follow with Underhand Shot/Startle Shot (this knocks him down and dazes him). Critical Shot while he's down. Finish him off with Headshot. If he is buffed, you may have to land another Critical.

If he's lucky enough to start a defense macro or heal during those first few seconds (most won't if you catch them by suprise), then it's time to think about going on the defensive or even making a quick escape.

Get duelist stance going and prepare to root/snare/kite. My template gives me just enough medic to heal about 800-1000 every 6 seconds (with healing clothes) in additions to ruby/stims. Use them. Don't let your health drop below half. If you get caught in a healing loop don't panic, just root or snare as soon as possible to break the cycle.

I personally don't like the toe to toe defensive fights. If I can find a way to get away, I will. Return to set up a new ambush another day.

Most of all, have fun. Don't be a poor sport. Your gonna get your a$$ handed to you quite a few times. Just learn from it and try different tactics based on your own template.

i have a pistol with a speed of 1.40 and i still find jedi hitting me twice before I hit them once...

more and more of my fights are getting tougher. they just hit too hard. im a mbh mcm and pistol 0001.

if this keeps up, killin jedi solo will be tough,, also they are doing knockdowns faster than i can on them and roots faster than I can root them.. it is rough now.

The element of surprise is a huge factor. A few tips:

Always /tar the jedi and see what food/spices/buffs he is on.

Timing off a jedis downers can be a huge factor in a fight

Jedi that has just shuttled in or crossed a server boundary has to take all of his pearls and crystals out and put back in saber to get his modded speed.

If a jedi is dueling let him get wore down before attacking. If he quickly hands a beating to the other person do not attack. He is loaded up on defenses and spices/buffs/food most likely and is ready to hand you a beating also.

If a jedi is out grinding missions then observe the jedifrom far away very quickly and then ambush. Do not sit there forever. They will notice you.

Take all of you foods/spices right before you attack and do it very quickly. That's the first thing i check if a suspected bh is near me. If someone is sitting there all food/spiced up and when i examine them and one of their badges is a mbh. Its a dead giveaway why he is there.

Don't stand near a jedi very long. They can /duel/endduel you and all of your surprise is gone. Standing close to a jedi is not very good hunting tactic anyway so why would you do it.

Watch the jedi defensive macros and try to time attack when defenses are down. You could force him to healing and make him miss a a macro

This is just some stuff off the top of my head. Hope at least one of things helps you or someone else.

Here is my advice:

I am not a respec BH but I did just recently start doing Jedi missions. I am not the best PvP player. That being said I am 15-0 including FOUR 220K + Jedis.

How?

Simple.

1. I only attack if I have achieved complete and utter surprise.(meaning I can frontload a miminum of 2K-3K points of damage, getting a clean KD, followed up by a Torso , ADV Crti combo, followed by stopping shot , Torso, ADV crit combo all the meanwhile the pet is doing 50-150 points, this will assure over 3K of damage , and will guarantee the jedi to be in a defensive position after the root. You have forced him to think of only two things at this point, running or healing).

2. Only engage if the Jedi, in addition to being completely surprised, is not buffed or his force is down, or he is engaed by MOBS or creatures. Even if you achieve utter surprise like #1 above but the jedi is not in a tough spot (in other words he is buffed and not distracted or enegaed by other PvE activities) you can still lose dramatically even if you cause 3K of damage before reaction, so DON'T engage and follow this rule.

If you follow these two rules and drop the mission whenever you can not engage with these parameters, I promise you success after success. I have dropped 3 or 4 times as many missions as I have won but the results speak for themselves.

I do this with mediocore armor, using neutron pixie, and valarian brandy and a 69 level spider . I do have a GREAT krayted laser rifle but nothing really fancy. use your head more than your in game muscle and you will be succesful. I have never even had to heal in a fight yet with this toon and have only actually been hit a few times in the earlier missions.

My other toon is an MBH/ MCM and it is even easier with him.

I find that, if I don't die in the first 30 seconds, I have a pretty good shot.

Are you waiting for the "right moment?" Most full templates I've hunted go out to PvP, hunt Krayts, hunt NS, and run around dueling. I win more than 50% of the time vs. full templates because I wait for the right moment.

I'm also working on my food/drink/spice strategy to get my percentage up.

Ok...just off the top of my head....why CM 0004 ? Why not 4000? You are not going to be able to take the hits like a Master Pistols more than likely and will need the healing a bit more. With CM 4000 and a MedBot-(thank you Oheo, makes a world of difference)-you should be hitting 1700 per heal. I have 3 or 4 standard combos that I string together at various times....think along the lines of:

A. A pure state attack combo (a string of attacks to apply as many states as possible)

B. A pure damage combo (a string of attacks for pure damage)

C. A delay combo (string of attacks to prevent him from hurting you)

D. Low Action combo (string of attacks that use minimal action)

To further break it down after you have your "go to" combos:

A. Know when and why it is the appropriate time for each combo

B. Know your opponent (some you won't need to heal for 1700 against, against these use a Bomb Droid-stick it out of the way somewhere with /tellpet stay and when Jedi ABC gets low on health, run your B Droid macro, you do have one, right?)

C. Keep your combat log up and the timestamp on, watch and try to discern his pattern, if you know he's an "armorbreak, kd, powerhit" Jedi, he will fight very differently from a "kd, force weaken, force choke, force lightning" Jedi

C. Don't get discouraged!

It took me almost 9 months of beatdowns before I got to the point I am at right now. I have somewhere around 20 Jedi kills Post CU (All but 3 are full templates) and cannot imagine quitting the game anytime soon. I am having more fun than I ever have. This profession offers so much and the content is ever changing.

Hope this helps and I would be glad to offer more specific advice if you provide more specific details.

Hang in there, and wait for other player bounties to get implemented. Methinks it will be relatively soon, now.

Don't let it bother you. If I can't drop my mark in the first 15-20 seconds then it's probably not gonna happen. Time to make aquick escape and set up a new ambush.

Just remember that we only have one advantage now .. the ability to catch our mark offguard. Use patience and pick the right time to fight.

My mark last night: Had him in the perfect postition. He's at the starport and chating with some guildmates. I sneak around the back side and go under cover. Target him. That's when I notice that he is buffed up with the works (30 plus minutes left) and fooded up to the gills. Although I had the perfect position I decided NOT to attack .. but just sit and wait for the buffs and/or food to wear off. He leaves and heads home and goes LD soon after. No problem, I'll try again tomorrow.

Pick the fight when he's at his weakest and you'll suprise yourself.
