Just an idea I was thinking about. What if BH could hunt Smugglers? Here's the idea:
At the Smuggler Mission Terminal there will be two types of missions; low key (easy, safe, but CHEAP!!!) and high risk (difficult, dangerous, and WELL WORTH SUCCESS!!!) If you take a low key mission, there's no need to worry about anything practically. If you take a high risk mission, success could make you rich, but failure could put you on a BH terminal. If you are hunted (This next part requires some tweaking to BH profession) The BH could place you under arrest. Once he/she does that, you have the choice to cooperate or resist. If you Cooperate, you will automatically follow the BH to the nearest BH terminal where you pay the worth of the mission you failed (compinsation to your employer who lost money on the deal). If you resist, it results in PvP.
I know what you're thinking, "What if the BH is in the killing mood and just wants to kill me?" If they bring you in alive the BH get twice the amount that was advertised for his/her mission to get you. Killing you only grants them the advertised price. The choice of PvP is yours though. If you cooperate, you just loose credits. Resist, there's the possibility of you getting killed.
I just want comments and opinions. Tell me what you think.
I wish that would be awesome. Hope it happens, but then it would take some attention away from those jedi, can't have that

The ideas that were talked about were in a risk vs reward situation (post re-vamp)and no one feels every smuggler should be just tossed to the wolves. Bountys on smugglers would be based on mission/quest failure or stealing cargo giving smugglers a choice (i.e. tempt fate pay the price) again a great deal of information can be found on a fair system in the back pages of this forum. To just dismise the idea with out reviewingthe infothat was put forth is a little short sighted.
Yimaz, please don't call me short-sighted. I'm all for content, and if getting placed on bounty hunter terminals is worth the risk, then I'm all for it. I just have visions of the developers placing us on those terminals for performing a slice on one gun, and we currently don't have much in our skill tree as a pure smuggler to give us a fair shot at survival.
I've read all the proposed ideas, and some I support, some I don't. If you actually read what I wrote, I believe I did say that " UNTIL something gets implemented that makes being a target worthwhile, i will be against this idea." So please don't call me short sighted. All I am asking for is that something be put into place to make it worth the risk. If you look through these boards, you'll also see posts by people who say something akin to "Hey, wouldn't it be cool to get on the bounty hunter terminals? That would rock!" with no mention of what it takes to get on those terminals.
I've always respected your posts and your ideas, and usually I think you are spot on about a lot of topics. But I think calling me short-sighted is a bit off the mark.

I mean no disrespect my friend (truly) My point was that the slice and marks concept was shot down some time ago. Again no one wants smugglers just put on the boards for slicing or spicing. The threads i was talking about were the ones that talk about NPC and possible mission terms giving smugglers missions/quests and the smuggler has the option of doing the mission or stealing the goods. Stealing from a hutt or any crime lord or failing (some missions should have a high risk of failing)a task given by one should put you on the Bounty Hunter terms, its that simple. Yes there is no system in place at the moment but thats the point of working something into the re-vamp. All Im saying with the short sighted comment is this. There are concepts out there that would work and to just say I dont want to be on the BH boards until..... takes away from the great ideas that are out there. Smugglers on the BH boards is a hot topic and I understand why, some of us are more crafter/smugglers while some (like me) are tank/smugglers my point is mission/quests for crime loards with fail or steal options is a fair way to do it. There is a lack of content in game and we work (idealy) for the underground, some smugglers will work with in the rules some will break them Han broke the rules and was hunted and I feel very strongly that to help add content we need the same option. The dev's do need to do it in a fair manner and not like the jedi system, you will get 100% agreement from me on this.
Again sorry if i came accross a little harsh, Im at work and rush this stuff out.

If you are, for example, a Rebel Smuggler caught with 20 crates of contraband who then kills about 50 Stormtroopers in the middle of a town square, don't you think your local Surface Marshall might have someone other than Stormtroopers look into this?

How would I get in contact with Green Marine? If Smugglers are for the idea, I'd like to see if we can get it done. Right now I'm trying to rally BH to the idea. They are under the impression that a Smuggler would be no match for a BH. I agree that there is little content and quite frankly I have been a BH for several months now and hunting NPCs gets a little boring because you know what to expect. Thereare no suprises, no unpredictability. It's all computer programing and there is nothing random about it. I'm sick of it. The only live prey we can hunt are the Jedi and I'm sick of going on BH threads reading about how unfair it is that Jedi exploit the droids ("Target not online"). Then Jedi complain because a BH finds a SMART (notice I didn't say FAIR) way to kill them. We all have some kind of complaint about our professions and I think if Smugglers could be hunted, it would give a new kind of "Oooooh Ahhhh" feel to the game. That and it would give the Smuggler the kind of life of danger and adventure that earned them their rep in the movies.

There are numerous Smuggler/player bounty ideas on the board and no one is sure when/if they are ever going to get implemented. If they are, I'd say they would have to be a part of a whole 'crime' and faction system, where it would be clearly defined that, for example, you can't shoot CorSec troopers in Coronet without penalties, you can't carry contraband items through Starport security checks without Smuggler help etc.
You might try to PM KStarfire, the Core Systems correspondent to see if parts of this are already planned and get in touch with other people from the Smuggler boards with meaningful ideas about this, especially the current and former correspondent. However, as I've said, if it's going to be implemented, it shouldn't be a Smuggler-only thing, but something that changes the game for all players (like the Imperial Crackdown was).

Slow down sparky
your enthusiasm is great but its not a matter of you PM'ing greenmarine or geting the troops fired up about the idea. All dev's are on a schedule and after the last revamp push back (this was about 3 or 4 months ago) we were told nothing will move forward until the Combat revamp. If you check the indev threads this was stated yet again by thunderheart a few weeks ago. Green has been penned to do our re-vamp but only after he has finished other projects and given the "green" light by his boss to started on profession re-vamps. PM'ing him will do nothing. We all want a re-vamp we have been waiting for over 16 months, sadly you have to kick back and wait, something we were not happy about but learned the hard way to acceptmonths ago. You remind me of a young me, lol I felt the same way a long time ago. Keep your passion for your profession but remember we are at the mercy of the dev teams schedule and they have to first focus on the over all game before the professions.

Yimaz, your patience is inspiring. I would just like to run the idea across GM so that whenever he does get the green light, he'll have it on his mind. I certainly don't expect immediate results. We BHs have also learned about patience the hard way when it comes toour bugged droids. It's just an idea for the devs to think about for whenever they can initiate the re-vamp.

Trust me he knows ![]()
Keep an eye out for him to post here in the next few months after the combat re-vamp, then we will all slam him with ideas cause then he will be willing to put the time into them...
