I have to say that when it comes to handling exploiters SOE does the worst job at enforcing their EULA. In fact they do such a terrible job that most people don't even know what exploiting is, unless it's a credit dupe.

Here's a little news for you who aren't sure of what an exploit is. If you are using a game mechanic to do something that it isn't supposed to be used for in order to gain an unfair advantage then you are exploiting that game mechanic.

Examples of hot debated exploits:

The LoS exploit on the Ryat trail. I'm not blaming jedi for this, we all know BH have used it too. This is clearly an exploit. I doubt the devs decided to put in invisible barriers that work as safe zones for anyone. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either retarded or simply fooling himself.

The Duel/Endduel exploit. Again, I'm not blaming jedi for this, we all know BH have used it too. This is clearly an exploit. The duel commands weren't meant to take out BH's best weapon: Surprise factor. Any person who uses this to gain an unfair advantage is exploiting this command to gain an unfair advantage.

The worst thing about SOE when it comes to exploits isn't the fact that they don't get fixed, it's that SOE doesn't come out and explain to everyone that this is in fact an exploit. If they would just come out and state that the LoS and the Duel/Endduel is an exploit and that you could get banned for using it then there really wouldn't be much need for a fix. People would be too afraid to use these exploits in fear of losing their accounts.

Still SOE's employees keep saying how important their customers are but they do nothing whilst their own game mechanics are used to ruin other peoples playing experiences. To me this simply goes to prove that SOE is either too lazy or too afraid to do anything about this, or the more obvious reason, they simply do not care.

I think every correspondant should make it their nr. 1 priority to make sure SOE does their job and punishes exploiters.

The LOS area is surely an exploit. Anyone who uses it deserves to be horse-whipped (BH and/or Jedi).

The duel is kinda iffy. I personally don't use it, I try trading with BHs. If he's got your mission you can't trade with him, end of story. Is that an exploit?????? No, I want to give all BHs a little gift. It's my thing, it's what I do.

Besides, with the right build they don't have a chance to duel you. They're 1/2 dead and on their back before you get down the bridge.................hit 'em fast and hard. That's what I do.....lol.

The Exploits are pitiful, and pathetic. Does Obi-Wan duel exploit every well-armed guy he walks by in the cantina? No.So much for a real-feeling star wars enviroment.

Another problem is Permanent bans seem not so permanent, Player A was banned for being caught using A-Sp***er program and banned, month later he is back to run around at FR10000, We vets remember the credit dupe bans that SOE was taking anyone in possesion of the Duped credits and banning them, something tells me that backfired and they have been gun shy ever since. The GCW base shutdoiwn while feigned death or corpsed. Slicing Sabers, resource duping, recently gaining every single vet award as many times as you wanted. There have been so many and yet not many punishments.

dunno wheather its SOE or just the SWG devs...but in EQ1 if exploits were found the servers were taken down asap when devs got word of it there and it was fixed...

I can remeber onlya few things well since i've been gone from EQ for so long...but one incident does come to mind....there was a NPC banker in the bottom of a low lvl dungeon that changed the gold you gave them into 10x the amount of gold when you took it back out....much damage was done...but servers were up <10 hrs i'd say before the exploit was found out and devs yanked the power cord on the servers

i cant blame SOE, or SWG for the CSR shortcummings,, what I can blame is the poor management skills of the company as a whole. Obviously folks are not communicating back and forth and because of this poor leadership, how can you expect the employees to have the simplest of common sense?

This goes for all of SOE SWG and its affiliates. Enforcing bans? yeah,, at the CSRs discression. How bad is this? Let me see,, they like or dislike a certain type of people there is already biased decisions...

People get banned for cursing in public. Why? There are filters and /ignore. Because the CSR is biased.

We have jedi running to KNOWN exploits to survive or gain an advantage. Hopping in other people's vehicles to get away.

This crap has to stop.. from day one Jedi has been favored, BH missions broke beyond belief,, then when those were fixed, the droids couldn't track the Jedi. FOR MONTHS. now that they are almost there, and the jedi population has grown 100 fold on all servers.. what now?

Jedi AFK grind on the Rryatt trails.. AFK grind stormtroopers in Corellia.. all to gain xp. yeah that is helping to make the world more immersive.

All of the upper and mid level management needs to just fire themselves.

And if this gets me banned, fine. Stupid CSR outsourceing.

Which goes to my point about SOE hiring enough people to deal with the exploiting. I have no idea what SOE has to pay LucasArts for licensing of the "Star Wars" name and such, but I imagine it must be quite hefty. Whereas with EQ, SOE owns it all, and can spend that money on bug fixes, new content every other month it seems, and monitoring of illegal player activities. (Cost issues also seem to me to be why we only get one bloody character per server in SWG, but in EQ2 I could have up to 10 characters on the same server. SOE wants to make up that SW license fee with customers buying additional copies of SWG, and opening additional SWG accounts, to have more than one character on a server.)

With SWG, SOE probably either can't or won't devote the requisite resources to "fix" this game's issues.

I agree 100% with the original post. Exploits/cheats/hacks and SOEs laxed policeing of themis a serious problem in SWG.

This game is rampant with exploiting... It makes me sick.

I saw a fellow Bounty Hunter -- not a friend of mine, mind you, but I witnessed his hunt -- approaching an Imperial jedi one time. They engaged, fought well, until the BH started losing and began running around to kite from range. They were out in the middle of a hostile area, with lairs of mobs and red dots on radar absolutely saturating the area... This bounty hunter ran through the middle of the mobs to try to make the jedi follow in. He practically sat within a 5m radius of ten or more mobs, without Mask Scent (I checked all his buffs, he had the usual Combat Medic ones and nothing else.) and never aggroed anything. He kited the jedi through about three lairs, with a red train inevitably forming behind the jedi, who honorably managed to incap this Bounty Hunter twice... and while standing on the BH's body, could not Deathblow. He wasyelling in spatial about it not working, and the guy kept getting up. Eventually, due to the train and unkillable BH, the jedi dies and is Deathblow'ed instantly, without any of the problems vice versa beforehand.

I firmly believe that there's an exploit out there to avoid mob aggro, and to avoid being Deathblow'ed. There's no other explanation, since I watched the whole event and know what buffs/foods the guy was using.

I reported my eye-witness account and haven't heard back since. I know what I saw, and it was absolutely disgusting to see a fellowBH do that. But then, it was a rebel BH, so I should've figured. I even have a screenshot of this dude standing in the middle of the mobs, and the jedi (both CL80 with the same aggro radius) with a train behind him. Do the CSR's do anything? Nah.

Not that I like jedi or anything, way too many of them, but... Using exploits in what should be a fair hunt is a big part of the problem. Littlekids who think it makes them feel better when they kill a jedi the only way they can...need to cut it out.

I seem to remember when Sony came out and specifically told the Bounty Hunter community that the worst and most grief-intensive exploit in the history of the game, clone camping, was indeed an exploit, and then the BH community fought back and told SOE...that it wasn't.

.....

Yeah.

That is still the the dumbest thing any body of people has ever said in the history of this game. So yeah, don't know if they'll try that again.

P.S. They didn't stop.

i have been here since day 1. MBH since 3 months after launch. been one every since. It took them at least 2 months to get the jedi on the mission terminals after they started appearing, then another 8 months (give or take a couple) to actually use the droids to track a jedi.

Devs knew this was a problem.

Then the jedi knowing he has a mission on him, logging out thus breaking the mission.

the list goes on and on. The devs/CSR/SOE all favor the jedi,, that is fine, understandable, but to blatently not fix stuff and pretend there is nothing wrong is just wrong, they should fire themselves.
