I'm having a hard time so far finding a light cannon that can rival my nym's slug thrower carbine for damage. Are good light cannons hard to find?

Well I'm after some info as well. Just came back after 8 months away and I'm dumb founded. When I left I was a Master BH/Master Rifleman. Played around with the new skills last night and thought I'd try and do a BH mission. Took a lvl 79 mission for about 30k and when I started to attack I did bugger all damage and got pummelled. Any ideas as to what I'm supposed to be doing. I used to use my non ch pets but apparently now they don't work. When I try to call them and change the stats but keep the current level it comes up with an error and won't work, so they're out of the question.
I was using my Krayt scatter with modified DPs of about 400 and my t21 with modified dps of about 440. Using the old comp armour as well. I'd be greatful for any suggestions.
you don't need to switch weapons when you fight anymore, for instance you can use the carbine specials like torso shot while you're equipped witha rifle. since you are a master rifleman it is best to use only a rifle all the time because your rifle defense and rifle accuracy mods are only active when you have it equipped.
you also need to buy stim D's. those heal for 1150-ish every 60 seconds. you also should have at the very least novice medic and +25 healing efficiency clothes. you should always go out doctor buffed as well. buy blob candy, spiced tea, booster blue, and synthesteak.
composite armor isn't the best since it has very low energy resists. i recommend getting recon armor like mabari.
EDIT: also forgot to mention that with novice medic, +25 healing efficiency clothes, and a 110 rated medical droid (MSE droid works well) on follow, you can heal for 1200+ every couple of seconds. These are especially useful when fighting the NPC marks since they will not attack the droid. But if on the chance they AOE attack it, you still get the healing benefits from it if it is incapacitated as long as you are still in range of it.
