Since 95% of all jedi player are useing AFK combat macros to grind jedi, wouldnt it be a good idea to remove all combat macros?

I haven't seen any MMORPG that has the system SWG has, where you can actually engage your character in combat while you not even at home!?

If we would get rid of these there would be 95% less jedis too, since all of them seem too lazy to grind it manually. They are even too lazy to grind the BH investigation tree it seems. (sure, remove the basejamming xp too, and make MBH a impossible profession for lazy jedi players to reach).I have mastered 10 (3 artisan professions) professions since start (summer 2003), all of them without any macro/AFK grinding. Roleplayed them all too. Thats something I feel proud of. With that slow grinding jedi would be alot harder to become, and I frankly think thats how it was ment to be.

So, plz remove these stupid combat AFK macos from game, it only profits lazy skill grinders. Of course noone is supposed to be able to engage his toon in combat when not even at home.

Amen. Even the jedi that I've come to know over the last year and a half are disgusted by these AFK schmucks. Then again, the upside for us hunters is that AFK grinders are complete pushovers, for the most part. Not only do they not know how to defend themselves when a real person who really wants the 225k on their head comes gunnin' for 'em, they don't even know how to run or hide. They fill up their boxes and venture out into the "real galaxy", eager to try out their new uberness, only to find that they aren't "all that" after all.

But yeah, you're absolutely right. I used to despise the AFK doctor grinders and the tumblers that you found in every major starport. The spam was annoying, but what really steamed me was how I couldn't get a wound healed in a room full of doctors. Bounty hunters ask me all the time "What's the quickest way to get BH exp?" I ask every one of 'em if they've thought about just taking missions. They tell me they have, and then whine that it's not enough xp, to which I reply that they should just quit. Patience and cunning are going to be their most important tools when they're "on the job". Since they don't have that patience, they should just go be a dancer or something. I think now I'll rephrase it and tell them that they should just go be a jedi.

Pretty much the entertainer professions were wiped out by AFK macros...

You really think they would do it now? Now that jedi, really benefit from it?

Doubt it will ever happend. Heck, look at entertainers, they were promised by 2-3 different devs that AFK macroing would be gone, in an interview, some dev even said AFK macroing would be gone before end of may....

What happened? They removed the use of entertainer professions instead of tackling what ruined the profession..AFK macroing.

Im talking about AFK combat macros. But it wouldnt mind me if all macros were gone. I just dont think they are for any good. I have made it thru with my toolboxes since summer 2003. Never needed any macros.

I only see exploits and unbalance in the game due to macros. Professions goes alot faster to master if you can do them AFK and that causes unbalace.

Umm first of all i hope its not 95%, personally i think its much less then that! Even if they use macro's the overwelming majority is ATK b/c of the offchance that a BH shows up. Your twisting the numbers into the extreme to try to make a point!

Secondly if you have never seen an MMORPG with AFK grinders, you haven't been looking very well ... From the mining days and in-house creature slaying/healing days in Ultima Online using 3rd part macro programs upto present day this has happened in ALL MMORPG's, however it is true that SWG offers an ingame mechanic that is "legal" to use, as opposed to 'forcing' people to use 'illegal' 3rd part macro's (though plenty of people who grinded crafting still used external macro programs to do their crafting)

Really trying to say this is something new, only jedi do it, and this is the only mmorpg, and its 95% of all jedi ... sounds more like an emotional statement to me then anything that has anything to do with the facts

Ok, your right. I messed up my numbers here.

In fact I have not met a single jedi (0%!!!) that hasn't used AFK macros...so it means 100% of all jedi are using it to grind.

But even if I havent met any jedi that dont use them I still hang on to the belife that there gotta be someone out there who dont use them. Thats why I came to think of that there shoudl be at LEAST 5% that dont use macros.

Besides the % of users are not of imporatnce in the thread, its the use of macros.

I still dont see any good thing coming of these, only lazyness and unbalance.

I use a macro to keep from getting kicked offline when I go to the bathroom.

I also use a /tar macro once I know my target's name.

Both are infinitely useful. However, I think removing the ability to put attacks in macros would solve the problem.

Spookie : You got a point there. How about making xp gain not possible when AFK-macors are running?

ok not sure if u guys ever heard of an old gaming system called "mud"

mud=multi user dungeon but thats where are these mmorpg games evolved from

but anyways mud is all text based where u have to type in commands to do what u have to do no visual all text and thats where swg and other games like it got some of their commands from but anyways

u use to be able to download programs to run macros simuler to the combat macros we use on swg

and those were in most servers banable offense because they want people to "play" the game not just take up space and run macros all day and not even be there

why did swg even include those i can understand the crafting macros and advertising macros as at least for the crafting ones u have to be there still as it requires ur attention but the fighting ones is lame and is unfair to the rest of us and does open a flood gates for jedis and u devs would get less complaints of jedis whining about bh killing them while they were afk

I have play ed this game since its inception and I have seen afk'ers come and go. There was first the meatlump afkers and now there is kashyyyk. There were no complaints when meatlumps help people top off thier profession and trust me no jedi's were doing this - just we the regular professions-lol -- pretty ironic to say the least. back to the question of getting rid of combat macros. Firstly, it is a possibility that some BH wouldn't agree to it since alot of the surprise factor is being able to set up macros for that first strike. It wouldn't cripple the strike just slow it up a little and every little counts. Most of the hate for the afk grinders on this forum is due to the BH/Jedi issue and to use that particular hate to make a point and not remember that all professions have done this is a little narrow minded dont ya think? I have a BH and a Jedi and I look at all the sides of it and still cant believe how much hate comes from these and jedi boards. Last time I looked this was a game but its turning into a regular hate mongering platform. If a person payed his 15 dollars a month let him do what the hell he wants with his toon as long as it doesnt impact yours in a direct way. The only way that it would impact it would be that he would be harder to kill. Do you want an easy mark? When I hunt jedi and it says kashyyk space i just do all the instances and shoot em in the head, easy money-lol. So cant be impacting you that much. All I'm saying is that you paid your money -play your toon and let others play theirs. If it pisses ya off so much just dont go down there but you willbe missing out on a cash cow if you dont-lol. Just try to have your own fun dude, If it is still no fun for ya, they still have other MMORG but i warn ya - they all have afk grinding-lol

There are only 6 spots to AFK grind on the wookie planet and you knowwhere they all are.

1) If you could AFK you would and probably have.

2) AFK grinding could be halted by BHs in a few weeks - all it needs is organisation.

3)In instance1 onkash on a recent three day grind of mine BHs came about every 30 mins and Jedi came about every hour.

You just wanna stop anyone else having fun but you - hope you get lots of spots and never get a date.

Wheres the fun when your not even at home while the game is running?!?

It's only a cheap shortcut for lazy players that are too impatiant to grind it manually.

i was not talking about finding the jedi i was talking about the short cut for grinding while ur at work school or play or business i think people should grind up manualy i did most of my friends did

for example there is no way for a bh to grind investigation tree on afk so why should jedi be allowed to and bh keeps getting hurt with the nerf bat many times but we are the 2nd hardest profession to grind but jedi boy they complain when they get kill for losing 100k xp when they cheated that grind by going to afk and using macros

u know what i am going to start a orginized jedi hunt party on kash i will ask all bh to get kash missions and hunt in a huge group knowing we cannot help each other but it will start detering jedis from afk on kash
