Hey all,
Well, since I'm pretty new (relatively speaking) to this profession, I need a bit of help in picking the proper companion profession to go with it. I've had discussions with people in-game, dealing with this, but I'm still not sure which is best.
Template 1: Master Ranger, Master Rifleman
Benefits: Fast attack, tracking, etc, etc.
Negatives: Weaker if the enemy gets to you. Die quickly if not shooting fast enough.
Template 2: Master Ranger, 3/4/0/0 Creature Handler, 4/4/0/4 Rifleman
Benefits: Got a tank (currently a BE, so I can create 10-12 good tanks before dropping BE)
Negatives: Slower, and overall, weaker.
My question is how do you guys view these possible profession templates? I don't want to be a walking PvE master, but just someone who can take on a good share of the animals solo, and group with people as needed. These are the only two templates (or small variations of them), because I've been doing brawler most of the game, and need a new idea.
Another thing I should note is that I'm a wookie, with weak wookie armor. If I was a human, I could put on 80% kinetic armor, get buffed, and get agroed by 4-5 enraged rancors and hit peace, go to bed, and maybe in the morning all the rancors will be extremely tired from hitting my armor...and I would still be alive.
Ideas? Thanks all

I like having CH for solo hunting myself. Its like having another play around that usually listens!
I huntRancors all the time, no buffs or armor. Just me a 6K ham pet and a big pile of things to harvest. I got an Ancient Bull going one time, bleed it and dragged it thru about 64 km of Dathomir, using fan shot or bleed shothere and there, thowing a few traps, but for the most part my pet and I just watched and harvested all the carnage.

Master Rifleman cut through stuff so quickly that the critter rarely gets to you. If it does get to you, your accuracy is pretty good at master and you rarely miss. You can always make yourself some uber cl 10 pets to use as tanks...

Is there really a huge difference from 4/4/0/4 rifleman, and master rifleman?

Why just CL10? I had enough skill points left after mastering a combat class to get a tree of CH. That will give you CL19. Talk to a BE and you are gold

I have gone the Riflewoman road.At master I rarely miss. When they do manage to get close, I just start running and shooting. TN is one of the blessings of being a Ranger. Accuracy is a Blessing of Rifle.

Yes. You significantly increase how fast you fire. Think HS3 every second and SS2 every 2 seconds. Even the step from 4444 to Master is like getting a new class.
HS3, T21 w/7.0 speed:
Your speed: +70: (100-70)/100: .3 -> .3 *2 * 7.0 = 4.2 seconds
My speed:+90: (100-90)/100: .1 -> .1 *2 * 7.0 = 1.4 seconds
and then most PvP rifleman get SEA's to increase everything to the speed cap.
Any questions? ![]()

ah I see, that's a huge speed bonus at master, which I'm surprised +20 can make such a difference. hehe, I have a long ways until master rifleman
I'm a 0/0/0/1 right now, leveling is VERY slow.
I'm just about a 0/1/0/2 though, so hopefully it'll get better.

I tend to think with all of the Jedi changes coming up, that Master Saber, Master Defender, 4004 Healing is going to be a strong template for staying alive and defeating other Jedi. However, enhance is required for force absorb and feedback if you plan on taking on any Force Wielders. With this in mind, it's rather difficultto dabble in multiple areas especially when level 1 force absorb and feedback aren't worth using for the short duration.
Does everyone generally agree that master saber is a must? Should it be now that you only will be gettting xp for other jedi deaths? How many of you are dabbling, and how many I either going Master saber with another master then two trees of another box?
I'm curious. I really wanted to be a Master Wielder and Master Saber with 4004 Healing while my buddy I play with is Master Defender/Saber 4004 Healing and the rest of our guild Jedi are cookie cutter template(except one with master healer).
What about Master Healer, Master Defender, 0404 Saber?
Thoughts? Thanks!

Do you have a link detailing all the forthcoming Jedi changes? I thought the major publishes would be 10, JTL, combat balance. Will the Jedi changes be incorporated as part of the combat balance? If so, this is several months away.

If you take 3 trees, your going to be gimped. Plain and simple
Master LS - Mandatory
3004 Healer - Mandatory
4000 Defender - Mandatory
4000 Enhancer - Mandatory
This is almost all the skill points. Leaves no room for Force powers since you need all these skills not to be gimped. I am...
Master LS
3004 Healer
4004 Defender
4200 Enhancer
3004 Healer
4004 Defender
4200 Enhancer
Only thing I don't have that I miss is /channel force, but force armor is much better for me. I have a 500+dmg 11fc polearm saber, so I'm usually decent on force.

I say drop the Force Run, since the Nerf is impending. Also, once your'e a Knight it looks like there will be no reason to run since there won't be anymore xp loss in PvP. Why not just go master Defender and stay and fight until the end? Or at least spend all of your points that would have gone to Force Run on Defender.
I'm currently 4014 Defender and I can say that Jedi Toughness is nice. I don't need that worthless Force armor that just drains your entire Force pool, instead the toughness takes care of it, and I can use my Force on attacks. I personally cannot stand Force armor, and will be avoiding all of Enhancer now that Force Run is getting nerfed. I could never quite make up my mind if I want to go Master Saber/Defender with either 4004 Enhance or 4004 Healing. SOE made up my mind quite nicely.
I'm just glad I didn't jump on the FOTM bandwagon like everyone else seemed to...otherwise I'd be regrinding my entire template.

I just got myself a DE-10 and named it the Enforcer since my bounty hunter is a carbineer. I honestly didn't know that a DE-10 was a Master Pistoleer pistol. All fine and dandy that it is... nothing wrong with that, but I have an oath that my Smuggler will never lose the Master Title.
If I wanted my smuggler to use the DE-10, I could go for the tripple master... but what I really want to do is reach speedcap without having to buy +20 in attachments.
My Bounty hunter on the other hand originally was going for majority in carbines over pistols... I was going to speedcap both:
3440 BH
4041 Pistol
3434 Carbineer
But now that I am thinking of mastering Pistoleer and going:
3410 BH
Master Pistoleer
0433 Carbineer.
This leaves me with +85 carbine speed, with a few +1's I can speedcap that. It also leaves me with +89 pistol speed which I have a +3 pistol speed which would cap me.
Has anyone done this template that I am thimking of trying? If so, how is it?
I really love the DE-10 and atleast one of my characters, since start of the game has been a Pistoleer. I really in many ways wish the DE-10 wasn't a Master Pistol, but I understand why it is, its a friggn sweet gun.
